My Band Slipped "Help" me Please

Recommended Posts

Hello I am 22mths out and have lost 60lbs but after 12months after I began to feel different no restriction, had two x-rays first on showed nothing, and second one showed my band has slipped and they drained me twice and now drained. I was told I might have to go back into surgery to have it replaced with a newer band should I worrie because I don't want gain my weight back after working so hard to lose it. And will insurance pay for this procedure just a little concerned?:scared2:

You would have to check with your insurance company to see if they could possibly pay for it.

If you get a newer model of band then I don't think you will have much of a problem with gain.

Do they think by staying unfilled for a while, the band might resettle into position?

Yes this is a question you need to be asking your insurance.

What does your doctor say? I'm sure there are some tricks they can try to get your band to slip into place. I'm sure your insurance company would pay for a replacement, just call them. Hopefully it will slip back on its own and you won't have to have the procedure done again. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
