Dr. Ricardo Bonnor - Dr. Bonnor is WONDERFUL!

Recommended Posts

I'm SO glad you had a better experience with him this time. I'm sure he has his good and bad days like we all do. I was talking about him with a nurse that has worked with him at the Kingsland Surgical Center. She said that he is an EXCELLENT surgeon, which is the most important thing.

Your 4 pound loss is great! Restriction from a fill is a funny thing. You may not feel much at all for a week or so, then all of a sudden it kicks in. I'd much rather take it conservatively than be too full and have all the misery that can come with that.

Keep up the great work!

hi everyone , I am getting banded next week (yea and scared at the same time). Is there anything I need to do before surgery ? When I went to my last appt Dr Bonner just said don't gain any weight before surgery and see ya there. I guess I am apprehensive about the drastic change in eating habits. I wonder if i can make it thru the liquids stage. Are we allowed to have sugar free Popscicles? i think i just need a pep talk.

Wish me luck .

Woo hoo! What day is your surgery? You are going to be fine!I'll make sure to say a prayer for you.

Unless he has changed his nutritional care guidlines, sugar-free popsicles are definitely included in Stage 2: Modified Full Liquids. That stage was 3 weeks long when I had my surgery last year. I was more than ready to move on to soft foods at the end of that 3 weeks, but I wouldn't say the liquid diet was unbearable. I just looked at it as a temporary thing that HAD to be done. Staying on liquids gives your band time to "settle in" and lets the places where your stomach is stitched around the band have time to heal.

There isn't really much you need to do to prepare for the surgery, but there are some things you can do to make your life easier right after. Have you decided what Protein drinks you are going to use? I did some taste-testing BEFORE my surgery, so I'd already know what I liked, then I stocked up on those drinks. I only used the ready-to-drink Protein Drinks - Protein Blitz by Designer whey, Muscle Milk, and Lean Body by Labrada were the ones I liked. Protein Blitz were especially good, because they were like Kool-aid - not milky at all. I also had beef and chicken broth, Crystal Light, and sugar-free popsicles on hand. For help with discomfort from gas, the Gas-X strips worked really well for me.

You are about to something wonderful for yourself! It's going to be a challenge, some days will be harder than others, but it will be SO worth it! Keep coming here for encouragement, advice, and pep talks! And please, if you want to, feel free to email me! Good luck!

Hello all! Does anyone know what Dr. Bonnor's cash pay price is? My insurance won't cover it so I will have to cash pay. I went to a seminar & found a GREAT Dr. that charges $13,300. I will pay that if I have to but would like to find someone a little less expensive if possible. Dr. Bonnor is so close to me too but the other Dr. is an hour....more with traffic.

Thanks for any info!

Hi I had band done by dr Bonnor last July . I was also cash pay I think it was about 12,500 . You just have to get a quote from his nurse . I have been pretty satisfied with dr bonnor I have had 2 fill s already . Lost 25 lbs since middle of June . Loosing slowly which can be frustrating but Probably better for me . Hopefully this time it's the last time . Good luck

I had surgery with Dr Bonnor in May and I was self pay. I paid $11,500.00. I have had 5 fills and still have no restriction. I had one last wk and will probably go back tomorrow for another one (He asked me to come back tomorrow if I still don't have restriction) because I didn't feel any different since after the fill. I can eat anything and it doesn't even feel like I have a band in place. I am begining to get worried because it will be 5 months on the 26th and I'm still stuck with 40 lbs loss (going up and down 3 lbs).

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
