Help! How long til I ask for an unfill?

Recommended Posts

I went for my 2nd fill this past monday. I'm now up to 4cc in a 10cc band. I felt really tight and threw up a lot the 1st few days. I assumed this was due to swelling and would subside. Well lucky me , I got strep throat 2 days ago. So now I can barely keep anything down but liquids. Am I too tight or just still swollen from being sick? So my question is how long do I stick this out before I call the doctor? Right now I can't even keep down mashed potatoes.

You are probably swollen from the strep throat. I would wait until you are healed from the strep before calling for an unfill.

As long as you can get ample fluidcs down, I'd wait a little. Your throat is most likely swollen from the strep anyway. By Monday/Tuesday if you aren't able to eat mushies then I'd call the doc, and by next Thurs if you still can't eat solids then for sure call.

NEVER get so tight you can't keep liquids down! NEVER!

But since you can drink liquids I think you're ok over the weekend and it will probabl resolve on its own.

a for the advice guys. I feel a little better today. I think it's a combination of being swollen & sick at the same time. & I'm gonna stick to Soup for most of the day. If that goes well I might try some yogurt later on

I agree, it does sound like being swollen and a little tighter at the same time my have affected you negatively.

I would stick to liquids for a few days . . . and as long as they are going down well and you can eventually progress through mushies and solids, you should be fine.

One last thing I should mention. When you pb, it can cause a little swelling, which can cause you to pb a little easier and it can repeat repeatedly in a cycle. You should always go on liquids for a day after pbing to let your stomach settle a little.

Also, I learned the hard way after my first couple of fills that even though I thought I was eating slow enough and chewing well enough before the fill, I had to change my habits after to do an even better job of it. What is entirely workable before a fill may need to be adjusted after a fill as far as bandster rules go.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
