How long does your restriction last?

Recommended Posts

For those of you who have gotten to a sweet spot with really good restriction, how long does it last before you need another fill? Weeks? Months?

Just curious!

In my case i have found that my restriction and loss there of directly coincides with with weight loss following the fill. In the beginning stages when i was first experiencing restriction i would drop pounds really fast following a fill, causing the restriction to fade within a months time. I was one that believed in small frequent fills. I never wanted an aggressive fill in hopes of avoiding any issues. Gradually as my band started to accumulate more Fluid the restriction would last for longer periods of time. I am currently 5 weeks out from my last fill and still am SUPER restricted. My fill previous to this last one held me 5 months till i felt my portion size was increasing.

My sweet spot lasted 5 months without change until I got too tight due to pregnancy. It can be a longer term sweet spot . . . but I think it does have something to do with how much fat is deposited around your stomach. As you lose weight, it affects the fat deposits everywhere, having more or less around the stomach may affect how often you will need adjustments as you lose.

I was wondering the same thing. I was banded 2/19/09 and have my 3 month appointment on Wed. I got my first fil at 6 weeks and right now, I have no restriction. This is something I was going to ask the doctor on Wed. The fill I had was using flouride. Does this happen everytime?

This makes total sense to me. As I lose weight, I will need readjusting. And likely the FASTER I lose, the SOONER I'll need a fill. Theoretically anyway.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
