talkalot1981 5 Posted May 15, 2009 I am waiting till June 3rd to see the surgeon, but I know tricare can be very picky about the weight and such. I am 5'4" 239 lbs I have 1 co morbity Hypertention. And I have been over weight for my whole teen and adult life. I have found many different hight and weight charts and everyone seems to be different. If anyone has any info just let me know. Thanks Jennifer
chantel03 0 Posted May 15, 2009 im kinda in the same boat as you. im 5'8 and 247. i have AVN and arthritis so im hoping for the best. i have to go to a mmpi test on monday then back to the shrink then to a nutritionist then back to my PCM and then and only then, he'll put in a consult to the surgeon. everythings going quite fast but im so worried that after all this testing their going to say no. my bmi is only 37.5 and i havent talked to anyone thats my age with that bmi getting it. (docs worried that because im so young that i wont stick with it) WTF:angry: why would i go thru surgery if i didnt plan on giving it 100%. i hate doctors!!! but i know with tricare the main thing is a 100 pounds over weight. anyways good luck and keep us updated!!! RhiettaP 0 Posted May 17, 2009 I'm hoping to get approved through tricare as well...I'm 5'4 and 220lbs...but I have type 2 diabetes...so I'm hoping that will help....the 100lbs over for me is between 117-133....so I'm in the 100lbs+....I got a referral from my PCM right to the surgeon...so I'm not going back to my PCM for anything now....I have a consult appt. thought next month....not sure what the next step will be from there. AlaskaGirl77 0 Posted May 17, 2009 Make sure you get your shrink/nutritionist documented because your actual surgeon is going to need that paperwork for Tricare approval. Your PCM is just trying to see if you can do this w/o going through w/ WLS,Just make sure you are clear with the both of them that you are doing this for WLS,if not they will send you on a diet on your way.... imabitdizzy 0 Posted May 19, 2009 I am 5'7 and at like 236. if you go according to the metropolitan life table, and I measure at a small frame, then I am 100 pounds overweight. SOOOO, lets hope I qualify!!
RhiettaP 0 Posted May 19, 2009 Where can I find out all that I need to do to get approved...I'm having my psych eval done through the surgeons office (I was told about it when I made my initial appointment)...but what else do I need? Should I start seeing a nutritionist on my own or wait for them to send me to one? I've seen one previously, but that was when we were stationed someone else.... AlaskaGirl77 0 Posted May 19, 2009 I had seen my nutrt. at a different base and I just called her,she wrote a letter and sent it to me...was good enough for my surgeon. Ask your WL surgeon what he wants/needs. Mine gave me a checklist.
RhiettaP 0 Posted May 19, 2009 What does the letter need to state? That you have seen her? I seem to have everyone working against me....I couldn't even get my PCM to give me a referral with out threatening to go to Mexico and a few tears (I think the tears are what did it...)
