I'm so worried that I have made my band slip/stretch because of my "vomiting actions" in the first 5 days of having it in....I didn't actually vomit - nothing came up but a bit of clear liquid (water?)...but I keep reading that if you vomit you can make u'r band slip...

I have been sticking to my post-op diet...only on nutritional fluids and it only happened like once every day. Last night/yesterday was the first day/night that it didn't happen - so I'm excited about that and think I am over the hard part now....I have also been feeling good today - no nausea or anything *fingers crossed* yet.

I still feel full all the time and still only having 1/2cup of liquid at a time...

Soooo.....do you think that I need to worry about my band having slipped??? Part of me thinks I'm just being overly paranoid - the other part of me just wants to be sure!! Surely I would know if it HAD slipped right??(Pain etc?)

I think that it is very common, when a newby, to worry about the band slipping. However please realize that (at least, per my doc) what usually causes slips besides doctor/placement error and "just because", are patients advancing their diet too quickly. So if you'd vomited because you ate food, then maybe! And not the vomit, per se, but the digestive action of your stomach.

How many times and how violently DID you vomit?

And if you are worried, why not ask your doc? He/she can check you out if needed, and reassure you.

It was about 5 times - once a night (it seemed to be once I put the boys to bed and could "relax" for the day lol). Only once did it last about 1-2 mins...the other times were only for about 30-40 secs. I have been reasoning with myself saying that it shouldn't have slipped because nothing actually came up - I hadn't eaten any food that could come up...I think I'm just really anxious for this to work so every little thing is worrying me!! lol

Thanks for you response! :crying: I hope your right .I think your right!

I LIKE to be right! :crying:

Just check w/your doc if, as you progress foods (I assume you do liquids to mushies to soft etc like over here in USA) you have a lot of pain. Otherwise I'm sure you are doing fabulous!

I know it does! It seems like FOREVER but it passes. I got so hungry I almost could've chewed off my own leg but I was too fat to bend that far down! !!!

And it wasn't on the "approved" list.

It will pass and you'll have lost a good bit and feel marvelous! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
