i was off for 3 weeks, but my company has paid short term disability for employees who have been with the company for more than 5 years.

Theres NO way i could have gone back to work in just a few days. Although i wasn't in a lot of pain or anything, I was EXHAUSTED. I went to church 2 days after surgery and needed a 3 hours nap after sitting up for 2 hours.

people can do it, but you might be really tired. just be careful.

I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back to work on Monday. I do not have a sit down job. I draw blood in a lab, but I took it slow and felt pretty good. Just a little sore at port site. I remember the first couple days I was pretty much layin around and on my pain meds. Never did have gas pains, but if I were you, I would give yourself at least 4 days. You don't want to over do it. You will know....it depends on how you are feeling. People heal differently. Good luck to you!!!!

I had surgery on Tuesday afternoon (May 5th) and went back to work this past Monday (May 11). I had planned to go back on Friday, but decided to take the extra day, and I'm glad I did. It takes a while for the anesthesia to work it's way out of your body, so you will be tired even if you aren't in any pain.

The first day back at work, I was really tired, but each day since has been much easier, and I feel like I'm back to normal now, after 3 days.

Good luck with your surgery!

I took 2 weeks (only because I had vacation time). Could have probably gone back in a week. It's more from being tired. Just be careful not to over do it.

Best of luck to you!!

I had my surgery on Friday and returned to work on Monday. I too sit at a desk in front of a computer all day. The only problem I had is my stomach where my port is located hit directly on my desk. No big deal though. You'll be fine.

Good luck! You'll be so glad you did it!

I was able to schedule mine on Thursday and had a long weekend so didn't have to go back until Tuesday. I think if I had gone back on Monday it might have been harder but I could have managed. Pain wasn't the problem though I did find sitting up straight put more pressure on the incisions. It was how tired I was.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
