I use the EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control. They come in French vanilla, strawberry Creme, chocolate Fudge, and Rich Dark chocolate. I love the Rich Dark Chocolate. Has 17 grams of Protein. Walmart sells 4 pack for $4.97.

I have used the Atkins and the EAS Carb Control. I was banded 3 months ago, so only drink them occasionally now, but have completely switched to the EAS. Cheaper, more Protein, less calories. I like the strawberry and the chocolate fudge. I add about 4 oz. of 1% milk and a couple of Equal packets, and it's delicious. Something about the Protein Drink alone was too strong for me. Good luck!!

Thanks to you both for your responses. I looked at the EAS and noticed it had fructose instead of imitation sweeteners.

Does anyone have an opinion on this? :smile2:

I like the idea of "real" foods... anyone?

My doctors suggested Isopure Perfect low carb. I bought chocolate and vanilla and got great deals on them at vitaminshoppe.com.. They have 50 grams of Protein.

I mix a scoop of Beneprotein (made by Nestle) in with cottage cheese each morning. I can't stand any of the shakes. Beneprotein has a slight taste but is masked if you mix with things like oatmeal, Soups or chili. I ordered mine off of the Nestle website and I love it!

Before being banned I was drinking the Slimfast low carb shakes which had 20g of Protein. Then after banding, I found I couldn't get them down anymore. It's probably all in my head but they were making me gag. I then tried whey protien powder, nope, and broke down and bought Unjury unflavored but I could still taste a bad taste. Currently I am drinking the Dean's Skinny Cow, no fat chocolate milk. It has 11g of protein with 110 calories. I know its not the 20g recommended by my nutritionist but its better than nothing!

Thank you again.

The Isopure sounds interesting because of the high Protein content....but what does it taste like? The Benneprotein sounds great to add to regular foods. And after my banding May 29th I'll discover if any of these drinks make me gag.

This is such great information!

Any of the Atkins chocolate variety very cold are great and also, there is another product at health food stores or at www.newwhey.com that is a bit thick but tastes good and comes in lots of flavors. IT is only about 3 swallows and 40 grams of Protein. Put it in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes and you are done for the day...easy. IT comes in grape, fruit punch(my fave), blue raspberry (ok, I have two faves), other flavors as well.

Also, for after you pass the mushy stage...another trick is to go to a store that sells bulk nuts and seeds and get the following:

almonds

shelled pumpkin seeds

cashews

mini chocolate chips

dried cranberries

mix in a huge batch, split out into large (quart or gallon size) bags and put one everywhere you spend time. It has around 15-20 grams of Protein in a handful and it makes you feel full, gives you Fiber, and gives energy and a sense of having had something "bad". I eat it when I wake up, around 3pm when I start to get hungry, and on the way home or before bed. It only take a little and I don't have to feel bad about it. Plus it isn't another shake...those get old fast.

Try it and see what combinations of dried fruit and nuts you like. Ensure that you have more almonds than anything and go light on the higher fat nuts and very little dried fruit and chocolate chips. They are only there to give you a little "sweet" fix. Enjoy!

I have been hearing a lot about Jay Robb Whey Protein mixes...someone told me they mix well without a blender...dunno...My docs give us "Bariatric Advantage" products, which are surprisingly good..I also use the EAS Lite French Vanilla ... pretty tasty... I heard there is a way to get free samples of different products on one of these forums, but have not found it yet...good luck!

I've tried and like the Protein shot that you can buy at Walmart for $1.97. They give you a massive amount of protein in only 3 ounces. I start the pre-diet with Slimfast but that eventually made me gag! My doctor then suggested Carnation Instant sugar free liquid Breakfast. I usually mix it with about 10 ounces of skim milk and sometimes add about a tablespoon non-fat dry milk.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
