Where were you at 2 months post op?

Recommended Posts

I'll first say I am very proud of my 34 lb. loss, I would never have done it without the band,, at least not this soon, or been able to keep it off.. I just wondering if I am truly at my potential for weight loss. I have had my second fill on 4/27 which I am still getting used to and have been slightly uncomfortable this past week and need to adjust my eating again. I'm not hungry at all which is great, but still feel I am eating too much at a time sometimes. I can't eat any bread and found a certain salad mix that agrees with me and use that as my base for about anything but Soup. I'm not craving carbs very often either which is a whole new thing for me. I'm even eating fish twice a week which I thought I would never do...

I keep track of my eating and measurements on sparkpeople.com and have lost a total of 8 inches from my waist,, I was stunned! I've lost 2 from each arm and leg also, and 4 from around my chest,, (back fat be gone!) My hips have only changed a little due to the tummy roll (just one now) Seeing these changes makes me feel insanely great, but when I weigh in, will the doc question the loss? I have been doing Water aerobics and now that the weather here is better, have been working in the yard and doing some more walking.. I can't believe that 34 lbs has changed me this much, and the rod in my leg isn't bothering as much now either!!

Well first off, congrats on your weight loss!!! That's great!

Second, I can't really offer any advice, but I can tell you that you are right in line with me. I was banded on 3/23 so I'm a week shy of 2 months post op, but I have lost 30 pounds and am thrilled.

I know that everyone looses at a different pace and that it doesn't realllllly matter, but I am always curious as to how everyone is doing that was banded around the same time as myself. I just got my first fill on the 7th and I am definitely feeling it. I had some restriction before but now I've got it for sure and that's helped me a lot.

Good luck and congrats again! :mad2:

we were banded the same day! my weight loss is also 34 pounds! I had my second fill 4/23 and i feel some restriction (but it's that time of the month, so i'm wondering if it's from that or i still need to schedule my next fill)

I (and my Dr.) think i'm doing great. there are days that i feel like, gosh, this is going to take FOREVER....on the days i don't see the scale move, but then i remember, i'm THIRTY FOUR pounds lighter already....ALREADY... in a little more than 2 months, 34 pounds GONE! i couldn't do that before the band. most of the weight i did do on my own because i had no restriction, but the band is going to help me not gain that back and continue to lose once i get to my sweet spot.

I find i'm not that hungry, and most of the time, it's head hunger, not that i need to eat. I'm having a hard time eating enough calories and i need to start planning some meals to make sure i don't eat too little.

I can't do most breads, if i can, it's usually 2 bites and i call it quits. Beef is NOT my friend. I even tried filet mignon for mother's day and it wasn't worth the work to eat it.

I really need to start a regular exercise routine. i haven't done much more than walking here and there. I love to exercise, so i don't know what my problem is with not starting yet!

I wish i had done my measurements before surgery. i have some OLD stats somewhere...i'll have to find them and compare to now (which i still haven't done!)

You are doing great, and you are seeing results!! keep up the great work!!

I was banded on 3/25/09 and have lost 18 pounds:glare:

My dr said because I started at a low BMI (pre-op I was 211) that I will loose slower so I have to be patient

We were doing yard work and my son was helping me put cinder blocks on the corner of the tarp where our garden is going to go,, I told him to lift it,, and he couldn't believe how heavy it was,, then told him it was almost the same amount in weight that I had lost,,

I saw this done on biggest loser every season and it is quite a reality check!

I was banded on 2/24/09 . I've lost 33 pounds so far. And have gone down a clothing size. I look and feel alot better. My energy level is definitely way up there. I've been stuck at the same spot for a few weeks but I just had my 2nd fill yesterday. Do far I'm definitely happy with my decision.

Hello! Congrats on the 34lbs!!! I was banded 3/30/09 and have lost 30lb up to date. I have had one fill and I don't really feel any restriction yet!!!:smile2: I kind of feel like I should have lost more weight...I think I'm just not being patient. I know 30lbs is a lot but sometime I feel like I should be eating less and if so then I would lose more weight faster. I don't know but I hope this next fill will give me some restriction because I am way to hungry too soon!!! Any suggestions. BTW I work out for at leat 1 hr 5 days a week and I feel like this has been making me feel hungrier!!!Help!!:tt2:

Hi All,

You are all doing so great!! I was banded on March 4th, am a little more than 2 months post op, and have only lost 20 lbs!! I lost the 20lbs in my first 2 wks and have not really lost any real weight since then. Its making me very concerned, because I'm eating less and working out. I'm getting my 2nd fill on May 26th, so hopefully this will help me continue to lose weight. You are all doing so well! Keep up the good work!! =)

Congrats on the 34!!! that is wonderful

I was banded on 3/25 and I have lost 21 lbs. so far. I have had one fill but not much difference yet. I guess I did think it would be faster but, than when you really think about it 21 lbs. in sevens weeks is cool. I have lost 5 inches in my waist so thats a good thing. I do think I still have a lot to learn about this whole thing.:smile2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
