Got my date/could use some words of wisdom

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post, My name is Melissa and I just got my date yesterday June 2nd is my BIG day!! I start my liquid diet on the 19th of May. I am excited:thumbup: but could also use some words of encouragment from all the veterans out there. I have a very supportive husband and family so I am lucky to have the extra support but they also don't know what it is like to live your whole live being heavy and not being able to do the everyday normal things that they may take for granted. Anyway, Just wanted to say Hello and I can not wait to being my new life journey to let the person I am on the inside OUT! LOL.

PS. Does anyone know how long it is after surgery before you can have sex again? Just wondering:lol:

Thanks,

MElissa

Hi Melissa...I think we waited like 1 week! It would depend on the position...but you will know what your tummy can handle!:mad2:

I posted a post called if you are new and you know it clap your hands...(or something like that) here under introductions last week...and it was full of things I would have liked to know before I started!

Welcome to your journey girl!

Hello! Congratulations and welcome to LBT!

Ok first of all... It's great you have a supportive family. I understand what you mean by they don't know what it's like lol My husband is average size, my mother in 130 and my sister is about the same if not less.... T hey have all been very supportive of me and my surgery and they are always the biggest fans in the cheering section when I need back up. However, life as you know it will change.. since it can be tightened and loosened for the most part the changes will be gradual. I think for me this is why I have succeeded thus far.

I am by no means a veteran. I still struggle to keep losing, get my Water, eat my Protein you name it. It comes MUCH MUCH easier now though than it did pre band. I havent had a fill since last October and I am doing good.

I am sure that you will have much success on this trip and I hope that my experience has shed some light on it for you.

There is always someone here on LBT willing to share a kind word or to give you back up in time of need.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
