Heat, protein and frustration

Recommended Posts

Have to let off a bit of frustration. Last week my family and I attended my son's graduation in Florida. I knew going on this vacation that making the right food choices was going to be a bit of a challenge and I think I did fairly well. Things weren't to bad until, as the week went on, it got hotter everyday, 90s and higher. I found that even with a 35 lb. weight loss I still struggled with the heat and dehydration, I was just so frustrated I could have screamed, I truly felt as if I was holding everyone else back from having a good time because I couldn't hack it. I did consume alot of Water during the day and couldn't figure out way I was dehydrated, the med doctor at Epcot told me my blood pressure was low; which is unusal for me and my electrolytes were way off so, after a couple of bottles of gatorade I was good to go. After some careful thinking I realized a had been eating mostly salads and NOT enough Protein which I think may have been my problem. Believe me, when they say to eat your Proteins, they mean it. I really think if I had eaten correctly, I may have had more energy to enjoy myself. Maybe next year I'll have the energy to hoof it around the parks with know problems?

Thanks for letting me vent! PS: I get my first fill tomorrow, I'm nervous yet excited.

Always eat your Protein first. I know it can be hard when it is so hot, but it really is a must.

Living down here in Florida also causes me to swell sometimes. Oh the heat!!!

Take care and good luck with your fill.:)

I too live in Florida- I am fortunate to work inside an office all day but on the wknds I drink way over my 64 oz per day... I too get swelling but more from lymphedema than anything.

Recently I visited SC for about 5 days and was out of "sync" from my day to day routine- Even though I made wise food choices and drank plenty of Water etc. I felt weird when I traveled back home- Sort of dehydrated but not sick. For me I think the routine I have established as far as eating on time and measuring and calculating each meal (planning each weak ahead of time) helps- I think it was more of a test and reassurance to me that I need to keep on track and stick with my routine as mundane as it may seem..

Thanks for the info everyone. I must admit, I'm glad to be back at home where it's a lot cooler.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
