BethL 0 Posted May 11, 2009 Did you insurance cover the psych eval and dietician? I went to a center that does surgery and they want me to pay $1500 to cover the psych eval, dietician, pre/post op support and filing the insurance. Is this normal?
ParrotheadCathy 0 Posted May 11, 2009 I was self-pay and so opted to not have the psych evaluation or visit the dietician. Everything else as far as pre- and post-op support was included in the $15,000 I paid in advance of surgery. That includes 1 year post-op and up to 10 fills. And I ran all my pre-op testing through my primary care physician so all of that ws covered by my insurance.
MSan914 3 Posted May 11, 2009 My insurance covered everything 100%, My surgeon's office requires an up front $750 payment for their 6-week nutrition classes, post-op monthly support meetings and the 2 weeks of liquid diet items.
lindas0809 0 Posted May 11, 2009 My insurance covers 100% of surgery and my pre op psych and nutritional appointments, but I got a referral from my PCP from them. Some programs do charge a "program fee" running anywhere from $500-$1500 dollars for various things. I had to make sure that my hospital didn't do that because, frankly I couldn't afford it. If it's an obstacle for you call around to other programs in your area. Good luck!
