I noticed in a few other thread that there are quite a few twin moms on here. I have b/g twins and they are 3yr old. I was just wondering how you are all doing with your bands? My tummy never tightened back up after having my twins, so I'm a little nervous as to losing weight, will I just "deflate" more? Do you have any other kids? I have a 7,6,5,and twin 3's.

Hi

I have twins, fraternal girls, 17 and a boy 18. It was pretty crazy when they were younger, but it got easier with time. My stomach is slowly going down with my very slow weight loss, but I don't think it will go back to normal.

Hang in there!

I also noticed there were a lot of twin moms on this site- my boys will be two on Saturday. I was just banded almost four weeks ago. Were you banded early May? I think the one thing that made my tummy look "o.k' in terms of deflation for the past two years was the extra weight I carried- it keep it looking full. So I had the same concerns you have shared. I have since lost 22 lbs and have noticed my lower stomach starting to "krinkle". I am not sure what things are going to look like once I lose another 78 lbs. I think that exercising is going to help a lot but I don't think that rock hard abs are going to happen for me but that is o.k. I think I will be able to hide it okay with clothes and a great pair of underwear!

I have twin girls that will be 3 at the end of the month. I was banded on March 27, so I am still pretty new to this. I am sure my tummy will never go back to normal!

I have an 8 year old boy and twin girls that are 5. I had my surgery in july 2007 going on 2 years the belly is not gone but is deflated. Control panities hide it okay. Would like to have a Tummy Tuck but not in budget. I was private pay for surgery and just paid it off so that will wait. This is the best thing i have done for myself. Just remeber to talk time for exercise i know it is hard to do with kids but now my kids run with me. It is a family event and I love it.

good luck all

I have a 6 year old girl and 2-year-old fraternal twin girls. I'm almost at goal and my stomach is a train wreck. It won't ever be the same. I have a lot of wrinkly saggy skin now. Insurance covered my band, and DH has promised me a Tummy Tuck in the near future -- so now I just have to find the $$$$$.

I posted under intros but I figured I'd stop by here too...Im a triplet mom that is waiting for my surgery approval again. I started the process last yr and the doc wasnt in the network. They will be submitting next week - we will see. Keeping my fingers crossed. So ladies, my thoughts are now that the babies are 2 it will be a little easier than last yr when I was originally scheduled - trying to be positive!!! What was your pain like? How long before you could work/carry the babies, etc? Any advise????

Mom of Trips-

I had no problem with pain after surgery. I was up right away walking around after surgery, never took the pain meds, and lifted my daughter into the car seat upon leaving the hospital. With that being said, I was also up walking around about 4 hours after my c-section and wasn't bothered by the pain.

Good luck to you! I am sure you will do great!!

The pain really wasn't a problem for me either, but my doctor STRICTLY forbid me from lifting my babies for a MONTH --- and really more like 6 weeks when all was said and done. He's very, very cautious and he puts lifting restrictions on all of his patients, regardless of their parental status. The twins were 17 months when I had my surgery. I even managed to travel to visit in-laws right after my surgery (3 weeks post-op), but my in-laws, sister-in-law, and my husband did ALL of the lifting for me.

I held my babies while seated, but did not lift them. His major reason for such strict lifting policies is that the stitches that hold your band in place need time to heal. Stitches on the outside can heal in 2-3 weeks because they are exposed to air, but stitches on the inside need more like 4-6 weeks to heal because they are in a wet/dark environment. He is also very strict about a post-op liquid diet. I notice it is much longer than most doctor's post-op liquid diet.

I'm glad I followed his rules, though. I healed wonderfully and I don't have ANY problems with my band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
