Have a question -- Is it common to be cold all of the time? I'm 2 weeks post surgery and I'm freezing. My husband says it is from the significantly reduced calories -- but I don't know. Nope no fever, and it's in the low 70's, so not cool enough to be cold.

I'm cold all of the time too, my Dr. told me it was from 2 reasons #1 I have very low Iron ans #2 I have lost 95 lbs of fat that was insulating me.

Have your Dr. do some blood work and see if you are anemic, low Iron is a big culprit in always being cold.

Prior to starting my pre-op liquid diet I was ALWAYS hot even in the winter. Since then and especially since surgery I am no longer hot, either just comfortable or chilly!! I love it.....

I was cold all the time while is was quickly loosing the weight right after the surgery. Now that the weight loss is slowing down, I am still cold somethimes but it is not as bad.

My regular doc said "get used to it"

The Surgeon said "that's good, it means you are loosing fat"

So, it seems like it's normal.

I'm not chilled, but I'd always heard that when you lost weight that you would be.

I'm having hot flashes... come stand by me -- maybe we can even things out.

Same here too. Since I'm not keeping the airconditioning cranked down, our electric bill went from almost $200 to $104 last month.

This, to me, is one of the greatest things EVER. I'm fairly warm blooded and being so overweight, I was always hot and just a little movement and I was ALWAYS sweaty. I actually went to the mall the other day, usually a HUGE sweat fest for me, and I only sweat a little. My cheeks still got flushed but there wasn't Water pouring off of me. YAY! That is a HUGE NSV in my world!!

And I have noticed I seem to get cold easier too. Wow. That 40 lb blanket I've thrown off sure did keep me too warm!!

I had a hysterectomy before being banded and was on a small dose of premarin. I battled HUGE waves of hot flashes when the weight started to come off. I told my doctor(not my surgeon, but my family doc) and she didn't say much, but then called me and said, "you need to increase your dose of premarin for a bit--estrogens are stored in fat, and since you have less fat now, that may be why you are having trouble".

Probably not related to your cold issue, but sort of along the same whacked out thermostat line....:)

How funny that you posted this. I keep taking my temp because I am cold a lot now. I am 9 days out from banding.

I like to think the colder I am the more I am losing..lol

Me too! That is the strangest but nicest NSV so far for me. I sweat in the winter, spring, summer, and fall. Now I am chilly all of the time and freezing at work. They look at me at work and say with disbelief "you are cold"?. I love it!! Vines and all you other ladies remember this you are not having Hot flashes! Just your own private summers!!! LOL

Hello everyone!! I'm a newbie and -plan- to be banded Sept. 30th. My financing was approved today and just have to work out the details with Dr. Kuri's office. I'm not sure where I should introduce myself, so I figured this is as good a place as any... The cold thing is a little scary, since I lost 50lbs. on WW, I have been cold all of the time already, so when I lose the other 50, it worries me that I'll be shivering like a chiwahwa in a snowbank!! It will be worth it, no matter what (that's my story and I'm sticking with it) but it does make me nervous to read this. I guess that's more ammo for hubby to move us to AZ and get us out of WI...

Go to the "Front Page" where the Forums are listed and scroll down. You will see an Introductions Forum. You can start a new thread there. And give us ALL the scoop please! We are nosey :)

I'm freezing all the time now. Drives me nuts since I'm not used to it. I used to sweat just standing there. So this is a definate improvement!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
