Last night like at 2:30 am I woke up extremely nauseated and with a little diarrhea. I felt like I was going to throw up but tried very hard not to... I finally gave up after 30 min of holding it in and let go- But nothing came out- I had like dry heaves and burps of air- nothing came up- I woke up feeling fine and after this happened did take a phenergan in case it happened again-

I fear vomiting now but was feeling so bad I didnt know what to do-

I have been on foods for 10 days and the last 5 we were out of town so my "schedule" and routing were off kilter- I have not eaten anything bad; stayed healthy- but it was weird.... I dont know if I ate too much or too fast and it just settled in an akward place...

Has this happened to anyone else?

....or food poisoning....especially since you feel fine now. Food poisoning is usually out of your system in less than 24 hours.

I agree, food poisoning so highly more likely. If it was something you ate, you would of never been able to get to sleep and if you did go to sleep you would of known something was stuck before laying down.

I had the same thing happen on Saturday night. I was fine and all of a sudden I broke out into a sweat and started feeling nauseated. I laid down hoping it would go away and nope it continued. I had dry heaves, nothing came up. Then I fell asleep and woke up a little later with the same problem. I just had surgery on Tuesday and am still on liquids. The only thing that I can think of is that my nightly medication didn't go down all the way. I am still on a capsule, which my doctor said was fine. So, I am not sure what happened. It was only twice so I don't think it was food poisoning or a virus.

I just wrote a thread about this same problem!! (Can't take deep breaths...)

I'm finding it extremely hard to take deep breaths-especially when I first wake up, yawn or cough- and when I manage to do it, I end up dry reaching (sorry prob too much info). Had an awful time last night with it....its like I'm vomiting but nothing actually comes out....sometimes it will just happen to me at any given time - I went to the shops the other day and had to stand still for 5 mins to stop myself from vomiting...i felt very dizzy and nauseas....It can't be the food cause I'm still only on nutirtional fluids and only having 1/2cup every 2.5-3hrs....maybe our bodies are just trying to fight the band???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
