My surgery date with Dr Aceves June 17th!!

Recommended Posts

My surgery with Dr A is July 10th! I thought I was going to have to postpone it because my overtime at work was cut and I didnt think I'ld have enough money, but just as I thought all was off, what do you know...they need me!! And overtime is back. The money is in the bank and Dr A...here I come. I can't wait!!

Hi there Missie. I just found this place.

I don't post on OH about this place, I don't want the Alvarez paid posters coming over here ruining it by talking about how Alvarez smells, or starting threads on how good looking he is when they run out of material to discuss and threads to start.

I hate OH, it sucks so bad.

Did you see that thread where someone was trying to verify his sleeve training and it was all a scam? She was attacked for asking an innocent question, why couldn't she verify his training? She wasn't slam dunking him, she wasn't asking anything out of line. No sleeve training but an experimental lab on a pig? Heh... I laughed about that one. I already knew about it. I researched everyone all over again when I wanted to revise to a sleeve so I already knew his stats were bogus and his training did not exist. His training was from Jose Rod, watch one/do one. Yeah, that's not the kind of training I wanted from my doc. That's not the only thing on his CV that is misleading.

You know, we are going to have our own LBT sleeve board soon! Alex is opening it up probably this week. He had stuff going on and was unable to get it up and running the last couple of weeks but I think things will be moving this week.

Congrats! This surgery is so cool, it's not like the band at all. The band is an absolute horror. It's a great way to lose about half your weight short term. The sleeve, it rocks.

I did put off doing the sleeve because I was afraid it would be just like banding but now that I have one, I wish I would have done it a long time ago.

You'll get lots of good info about the sleeve and how it all works here. Congrats on getting your life back!

The first few days were hard. I was not in pain but being on the clears was just not satisfying.

Now it's a breeze.

I have to go back to AZ on the 27th of May and I am already wondering how I am going to get out of eating when I am around my brother.

I like the sleeve section here? It makes it one stop shopping for information for me.

Of course most are not in the same situation at me.

I'm so happy to hear from everyone...as I stated before I'm excited but nervous..thank goodness my friend Pam and I are having our surgeries together...our husbands will be there too..so they'll have each other to visit with while they aren't holding our hands..lol

Actually I'm taking my laptop and Ipod...don't want to sound like we're trying to make a party out of this but I do feel I'm starting a new life and on the road to being healthy. So many of our thinner friends keep telling us just exercise and go to weight watchers..we wish it were than easy don't we?

Its funny b/cause Pam and I were the skinny ones in high school..she was 100lbs and I was 105lbs..we're still trying to figure out what happened?? I adore Mexican food and she said she's never met a chicken fried steak she didn't like!!

This forum is so great and such a wonderful support system. I feel like I have made so many new friends and we all have so much in common..keep the chats, suggestions coming... they are greatly appreciated.

We can't wait to meet Dr Aceves and staff--only heard great things about them

I hope things go as well for you as they did for me. I was expecting pain and for the most part there was none. I was in pain when I first woke up from surgery, but not surgical pain. It was my left shoulder from the gas they use during surgery. It hurt through the night, but by the next morning it was gone.

I am really glad Dr. Campos loaned me his computer because otherwise I would have been bored out of my mind. It sounds like you'll have plenty of company!

I just booked for June 10th!! I'm talking to my high school best friend about doing it with me, too! Otherwise, I'll be solo - which is fine.

I'm so excited.

Rosebud should be getting her new stomach this week? She probably won't post until she gets back.

The sleeve board will look similar to this one and it's nearly ready to go live.

Yep, her surgery was May 27th. They left out of Vegas on either the evening of the 25th or morning of the 26th - can't recall 100% ... regardless, she should be on her way to her new life.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
