For about a two weeks I have been experiencing some mild heart burn. I do struggle to eat slow and I can eat a thigh and leg in one meal. Could I have caused my band to slip. Am I consuming to much food in one setting? I don't get stuck or vomit. I have been having great weightloss since increasing my food intake. In short, could my band have slipped and do I need to change anything?

My doc said band slipping is most often caused by people eating ahead of their post op diet; ie moving on to mushies or beyond when still in liquids phase etc.

And overeating would be more likely to stretch your pouch than cause a slip.

Lastly a slip hurts, or so I've heard.

What you may need if you aren't losing 1-2 pounds a week is another fill.

Maybe you've just lost enough weight to where you need another fill. Honestly, I wouldn't take chances. Call your surgeon and let them check just in case it is a slip.

Thanks guys. I actually have not had any fill yet. Last appointment my doctor said I did not need a fill and we can talk about getting one at my next appointment( May 28). I actually lost 8lbs since last Tuesday. However, I do believe it is time for a fill. Thanks for responding guys.

i got some heartburn for the first time since surgery last week and tums or pepcid didnt seem to make it go away. i think its because my band is at a good restriction and i ate something that didnt agree with my stomach(what i havent figured out). Doc didnt seem concerned cause have'g no probs eating and not throwing up. so he prescribe me some omeprazole . its the same acid control they give for 3 days after surgery. worked really well on make'g the burn go away and have been fine since.

I'm wondering if I have a band slip. I got banded Feb 13th, I lost 12 lbs on the liquid phase then only a pound or two since. I have a total of 7cc in my band which was 5 fills & never feel restriction. What's up? I feel totally let down

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
