Hi there,

I was sitting here on my first day of the pre-op diet and found this forum. I'm so glad to see that people are actively talking and sharing their experiences!

I'm a pretty picky eater, so preparing for the pre-op has been hard. Basically, I don't like milk or the consistency of milk, so it was hard to choke down that first shake. I had a white wine and herb-flavored chicken broth for lunch and it was not good. I had 1/2 a cup. Who would have thought I'd stop after a 2.5 calorie lunch? :tt2:

Anyway, I just ordered some Unjury and hope to have a better experience with plain chicken broth tonight. Any tips or suggestions from those with similar food tastes/pickiness is greatly appreciated!

Lisa

All I can tell you is stick to your preop and most importantly your post op diet scrupulously. Eat only what your doc approves! (I didn't realize how very important that was when I was in your place preop so long ago! LOL)

As to things not tasting good, no one likes to eat things that they find unpalatable. I got so deathly sick of those sweet gicky EAS carb control advantEdge shakes I could've screamed but I figured that period wasn't about me enjoying my meals so much as losing the requisite liver fat preop and then healing post op.

So hang in there; if you need to, call your surgeon's office on Monday and ask for some help.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
