I found out I was approved for surgery on Monday, so I am ready to go, except that we are going to wait until July due to two week trip that I have planned for mid-late June.

My question is about headaches. I have always experienced headaches when I go long periods without eating or when I start a diet and cut down on the amount I am eating. ;)

Has anyone else experience this? Did you experience it after being banded?

That happened to me when I started the pre-op liquid diet. It started day3, got worst day 4 and really sucked on day 5. Day 6 it started to go away and by day 7 it was gone and I have had no more problems. You might have to suffer through a few days but it's sooooo worth it! :glare: Good Luck and congratulations on your decision.

It's usually do to a blood sugar issue. Your body is used to a ton of carbs and when you cut carb intake it messes with your blood sugar and one effect is a headache. It's just one of those things that happen when you change your diet.

I had really bad dizzy headaches for a bit when I was having issues w/ my band and ended up w/ a mega esophagus. It's probably b/c I couldn't keep much down, but once I got unfilled and was actually able to eat, the headaches subsided. Other than that, the only time I get headaches is when I haven't eaten in a while. If I know I'll be busy, I try keeping a Luna bar in my purse and it seems to really help.

There is not only because of a blood sugar drop that could cause headaches, but if you've also cut down on or eliminated caffeine altogether, that too can cause headaches, since basically, it's a sign of withdrawal.
