I'm Having Arm and Thigh Lift....and Now I'm Scared!!

Recommended Posts

I keep worrying about dying and leaving my daughter without a mom just because of vanity, or coming out deformed!

I am having my surgery in Luxembourg where we reside and it's done by my gynecologist who is also a cosmetic surgeon. He performed my cesarean 2 years ago and I guess he did a good job with the my stitches.

Problem is there aren't that many options in this small country and I have no idea how to check up on his credentials. He has introduced me to another one of his patients who was post-op and I saw her thigh lift and she looked great.

I'm just so worried about all the posibilities and now I might back out.

Please send some words of comfort!

I know exactly how you feel. I worried for the entire 4 months after booking my Tummy Tuck that something was going to happen to me and I would end up leaving my two little boys. My ps was very good about reassuring me that everything would be ok and that he had never had a patient die from complications. When you look at all of the people that have ps every single day and they come through it just fine, that will hopefully provide you with some comfort. It was a hard decision for me. So was the Lap band. I even canceled my Lap band the first time because I was so scared. I am now 8 days post op from having my tummy tuck and I am so thrilled. My body has never looked better!

My daughter is having hers done June 4. Unfortunately I'm having my band done June 1 and can't fly down right away with her. I think I'm more nervous than she is. With your doctor that's doing the surgery is he board certified in plastic surgery? Is he your only option? I'm not sure if board certification is something that's done in other countries but that's a big deal here in the states.

My daughter's doctor is the doctor that is on the TV show "Big Medicine". In fact she was hoping if the show got picked up for another season, one of her clients is involved with the show and she was hoping she could get hers done for the show and save some money. She's having the lower body lift and breast reduction.

There must be some way to check on your doctor, search for referrals. At least your doctor is a specialist already. I get nervous when you hear about dentists doing breast implants..(which we had that here in my town). Just ask as many questions as you can think of.

Good luck.

Trisha

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
