PalmTrees 0 Posted May 8, 2009 Hi all. I am scheduled for lap band surgery on May 21st. I have Aetna and it is covered by insurance. Apparently fills aren't but the dr's office said they have ways of getting around that. My question is- I'm looking for a new job this summer and I'm concerned about getting new health coverage and not be covered in case of a band slip, revision, complications or future fills. Any advice? Thanks in advance...
SanDiegoPhotog 0 Posted May 8, 2009 I no longer have the insurance I had when I was banded. My fills aren't covered -- I pay for them with cash.
aubrie 6 Posted May 8, 2009 I have Aetna and my fills are covered. If you switched insurance, the fills may not be covered, but if you had a medical problem with your band, it would be an emergency surgery, so I'm sure they would cover that. You may want to check the policy for pre-existing condition first though. Some have that a pre-existing is not covered for a year or so after your policy takes effect. they're all different so read the fine print.
