Help Me Please!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok got a really serious question hopefully ill get some help. I have Aetna Choice Pos. I have to do the 6 month supervised diet. Now heres my question i have been told by both my pcp and the surgeons office that the first visit to your pcp counts if you got weighed and discussed a diet and execise plan. Yet i have have been reading on the forum that the first consultation does not count. I called the insurance company and nobody knows anything. Second question i did gain some weight on the diet. I started off good then fell off. Its hard when the wife is pregnant and cooking up a storm. Plus along with some financial issues a diet really took second fiddle. So will that get denied that i gained weight or do they just want to see that i went all six months. Any and all advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

i have aetna POSII and i did not lose any weight and gained l lb on final weigh in. I got approved in 1 week.

Im on preop diet, been on it for two weeks, in the middle of my third and i've only lost 7 lbs. I read most people lost like 20 lbs in two weeks. NOT ME OR MY BODY!! And im on nothing but Atkins shakes.

good luck!! it'll be fine

I read the guidlines on Aetna's site and they had 2 conditions. So my question is do they make you do the 6 month diet? I read something about a 3 month diet and supervised exercise program. Does anyone understand that stuff?

Thanks!

There is a 3 mo. program but I think it is fairly new. My dr's office is extremely "with it" when it comes to the insurance companies requirements and how to meet them. But they weren't familiar with this. I gave them the information from the insurance company Policy Bulletin and they are going to check into it more. Until then I am doing it in a CYA manner. I may be doing too much, but hopefully it will allow me to have surgery 3 mo. earlier.

Do a search on this forum for Aetna and you should find information. Basically you have to see your PCP and a nutritionist and have detailed records from them on your diet changes, behavior changes and exercise. I am also seeing a registered trainer to meet the exercise requirement since things are rather confusing on that point.

I have Aetna choice pos II I had the consult today, and psych eval.... I have to do 3 months with nutritional advisement... i was weighed in today at 41.6 BMI. Basically they told me don't worry about the 3 months today counts as one month... and i did ask if I gain or lose does it matter, they said it did not. I can move ahead and schedule my other tests all in one day .

Hope this Helps

I am so excited I am going to get my life back!!!!!

I have the POS II also. I haven't talked to anyone at the office yet on what has to be done. I have to start from the beginning. I went to the seminar and all that before but since it was a year ago I have to start over. But I can't wait. I would love it if they tell me I just have to do 3 months!

Thanks for the response!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
