I do have a question I know in my intro i asked about regular food, i am NOT a fast food eater never was but my one down fall and treat was a Mickey D's cheeseburger (no fries yeech). will I ever be able to have a small amount of one of those?????:) any response would be great and any advise would be better...thanks yall..

Yes you'll be able to eat part of a burger. You'll be as tight as you want to and there may be times when you won't be able to eat the white bread, but others when you can. I just ate about 1/3 of a Sonic Cheeseburger the other day (that was all i wanted) I'm told there are things that are not good selections for weight loss (like that sonic burger I chose) that may very well be part of a maintenance diet down the road. So odds are yes you'll be able to eat a McDonald's burger. If you really want one (LOL I am one of those rare humans who can't stand pretty much anything from McDonalds'....not that it slowed me down any)

Hey sounds like you are on your way. I am worried about the pain after the surgery. What was it like>

Post op pain varies widely; some have lots, some have virtually none, but most have some pain that is manageable with either the prescription drugs the doc gives, or OTC tylenol, and just taking it slow.

If you have a good surgeon (like I was lucky to have!) you don't have as much issue with trapped gas that they pump into you, the gas that things like Gas-X don't touch because they aren't in your digestive tract and therefore gas x can't reach. (Gas X does help the burps though..that type of gas!)

My pain was minor but I'm a firm believer in distraction. Using a pillow to "splint" or brace your incisions when you sit, stand, etc really helps a lot the first few days. AND stand/sit/sleep/walk as normally as possible from the start; you'll be less prone to adhesions and so on.

The pain will pass, even if you do have it, but you may be one of the lucky ones (like me) who had little to no pain. I've actually had dental procedures that hurt more for longer.

Thanks. I am checking out another Dr. this Friday. The first place i went was a lapband processing plant and I felt like a pig going to slater. I need a bit more personal approach. No one mentioned anything about GAS so I am glad that I ave found this website.

hello, the gas pain will pass pretty quickly, and it is not to bothersome, i felt it was more psychological, as at first i didnt even think about it until a resident reminded me of it the day after my surgery. please be careful where you go for this procedure, you really need a surgeon that has a team that is going to see you thru from start to finish and actually care. I was fortunate in that i live near The Cleveland Clinic. I have the whole nine yards, nutritionist, psychologist, nurse team, surgeon, surgeons assistant, surgeons nurse, support groups ect. it has been a week and 4 days now and i feel great, aside from some minor very minor pinching from my incisions (no stitches or staples, glue) i feel really good, i advanced to pureed foods and for mothers day dinner i had whipped sweet potato it was soooo good to eat human food again, BUT i havent abandon my protien shakes, they are a good boost of protien in the AM. good luck to you, it is a nervous but exciting time.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
