Has anyone used St.Alexius NewStart

Recommended Posts

Hello Iam just starting my research on which surgeon I want to use Iam considering Dr Wagner I have read other entries and seen Dr Wagners name, but not Dr. N. Richardson or Dr R. Follwell. I want someone who is experienced and has a great reputation. I would also love any feed back on how you feel about the staff's experience when you go get a fill done.

Thanks for any information. Lisa

If you don't get an answer in "Introductions", you might want to try "Doctors and Hospitals" and also you can search the site for those doctors by name.

Lisa,

I have heard good things about Dr. Wagner. I am also from St. Louis, and was just banded on Tuesday, May 5 (Single Incision). My surgeon is Dr. J. Stephen Scott, at SSM DePaul Weight Loss institute.

From the very first seminar, to all the insurance questions, paperwork, support, etc, I have had nothing but wonderful things to say about this institute. Dr. Scott and de la Torre have a fabulous staff and there are 2 support group meetings each month also.

Good luck as you do your research and with your journey. If you have any questions, let me know.

Thanks so much for the info I did check out the "Doctors and Hospital" category and found good things about Dr. Wagner but not so good about St. Alexius Hospital. I called DePaul and reserved a spot to attend a seminar June 10th so I am excited to hear what thay have to say although I have done so much research already I don't think anything they say will be new news.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
