I got my first fill on Monday, I already had 1cc from the surgery and got an additional 3cc which puts me at a total of 4cc. Since my fill, I am finding that food is not going down very well. I get this pain in my throat and chest and then feel very nausea! Am I eating too fast or taking too big of bites? For the last three meals I have thrown up. I am not eating anything bad or tough. Any advice is very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Teresa

Teresa,

Yes, SLOW DOWN....also are you chewing your food REALLY well (to the point of being more liquid then soild whe you swallow)?

You really shouldn't ignor this I would call the doctor and check in, my guess would be that they also tell you to make sure you eat slowly, small bites, and chew chew chew. But if something more is going on you want to be ontop of it ASASP.

I've read plenty of stories of folks who've done longtime damage because they were continually getting sick but didn't act on it.

Good luck to you, I hope you get this under control fast!!

If you aren't having any problems with liquids, I'm going to go with RESINTX.....take bites the size of a quarter, put down your fork or spoon, chew until the consistency of applesauce, swallow, then next bite. If that doesn't relieve the problem, call your doc. A slight unfill (even .2cc can make a difference) MIGHT be in order.

I just had this happen over the weekend. I ate shrimp, which I never had a problem with before, but now do since my last fill. I threw it up immediately. After that, all weekend I was throwing up. The nurse said I probably irritated my stomach and band which caused some swelling and then everything after that had a hard time going through. She said if you throw up to put yourself on liquids for 12 hours so the inflammation can go down. It makes sense. The doctor did remove 1/2 cc from me anyway.

Yes, too fast too much too soon.

The Band is doing the job. We have to learn a different way to eat.

Yes, it is worth the effort to change our eating behavior.

While still not 'at goal', I am officially less weight now than graduating high school during JFK's term.

JFK's term was a loooooog time ago since I was barely in grade school (well, not barely, I was there LOL) so I would say you have done a superb job!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good for you. I always like the advise you give to people.

It's true. If one has a stuck incident that is not a simple one which comes right back up, but rather one that takes considerable time and involves something similar to vomiting, there is a lot of irritation. In those cases liquids are necessary for a period of time which each individual can probably determine themselves. For me, it's at least 24 hours and then soft foods for a couple days, similar to what I had to do after my 2 fills.

One person on this board, who I think is an experienced member, said she takes Ibuprofen for the inflammation which I believe was ordered by her Dr. Everyone ask your own Dr. of course!!! My own does not restrict it as long as I take it with food or milk (I do not take it after a stuck incident for that reason!)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
