Going To Be Brave And Ask Anyways

Recommended Posts

For starters I know upfront that this isn't good and I'm working on it. So----------

Has your doctor mentioned that slider foods can cause the pouch to stretch?

TIA

Consistent overeating can stretch your pouch, regardless of what you eat. Slider foods are soooo tempting that they are bound to be a problem. Some of them, like ice cream pass out of your pouch very quickly, which makes room for more and that's even worse. And, I know some of those foods are really hard to give up (I had to give them up because I knew that if I started, it would be darned near impossible to stop, LOL).

What slider we talking here?

Anythings ok in moderation... But were here because we don't usually exercise the in moderation part.

If you're asking about it stretching I have a feeling you should back off the slider foods. I feel that anything can stretch the pouch because if it's a slider you eat it faster, you fill up and probably keep going.

If someone is compulsively overfilling their pouch with anything, there is a definite risk for stretching the pouch. Carbonated beverages are also a risk when it comes to this.

However, in the case of slider foods, they don't stay in the pouch very long so they are not as likely to stretch it as more normal foods. It is still possible if a person is rapidly consuming large quantities, but not as likely.

I guess one question a person can ask themselves after eating is - do they feel distinctly uncomfortable from eating too much? If the answer is yes, than it is likely that a person may be in the process of stretching their pouch.

There is a five day pouch test diet (just google it and you'll find it easily) that helps if you are concerned about stretching the pouch. It takes you through a brief version of the post-surgery diet and helps to break carb cravings (alot of sliders are carbs which can cause a cycle of cravings due to spiking blood sugar). It also helps to give your pouch a rest since you start off on liquids again. Most importantly, it helps to reset your mindset and get back into the banding lifestyle once again.

I highly recommend it for anyone who might be growing dependent on slider foods and wants to get back on the wagon.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
