Lips turning blue... is this normal?

Recommended Posts

I just had my bad a couple weeks ago on 4/14. The last week or so I've noticed that my lips kind of have a bluish/purple tint to them. I'm not cold (it's 80+ degrees here in FL) so I don't know what could be causing it. I hate calling the doctor and bothering him if it's something simple. Does anyone else have this issue or know if it might be from a defficiency of some sort or another side effect of being banded? Anyhow... I feel silly for asking but I just wanted to get some input from those more experienced. Thanks! :cool2:

You need to call your doctor right away. Are your nail beds darker as well? Seriously, call your doctor right now.

Bubble's got it right. That doesn't sound like any band complication I've read about BUT it is a sign of very poor oxygenation and that can be very dangerous. Call your doctor NOW. He'll want to see you, but you need to be seen.

have you had trouble breathing at all? or notice that when you wake up you feel like you haven't taken a deep breath all night? I agree with the first 2, call your doctor, if he does nothing go straight to the emergency room, I have a history of lung problems and when my nail beds are pale or blue tinged or my lips are then I know I need to go to the e.r. It more than likely isn't because of your band per se but it could be because of surgery.
