I was wondering how much people have lost in their first year. I've only lost 53 pounds, I exercise like crazy. I do very well with my portions, although sometimes my food choices could be better. I just wondered if I'm in the average range for the 1st year or is there someting I can do to improve my progress. I WANT MORE PROGRESS!!!!

I only lost 75 in the first year. I thought it was really slow, but I am always reminded that slower is better. It has been about 14 months now and have lost another 10 for a total of 85. I am happy with that and feel good.

I'm really hoping for 100 pounds this first year. I am at 54 pounds now and am going into my 4th month. So, if I can keep doing 10 pounds a month I will meet that goal.

I think bodies are different, and it depends on the initial BMI. I am in my 4th month and was on a big time stall the last 3 weeks, got a fill, didn't feel a difference so called to get another appointment for 2 weeks after - which was today. Already I feel some restriction, more than before, and I hope it doesn't dissipate (like the others had)...so now I'm hopeful. I lost 37 pounds since January, and was hoping to hit 50 in 6 months, but with the stall that is not that likely.

Wow, that's AMAZING, congratulations! I know my food choices could be better (do still snack here and there, and hoping now that I feel some restriction that I'll be less tempted), but you are definitely doing many things right on!

I am also losing slow but I do think it has something to do with your starting BMI also. I hope to be at my goal weight at 1 year post op.;)

I lost exactly 100lbs in my first year. Its been a little slow going since then, because of my fitness level and my new lower BMI.

So I definately believe that the rate of weightloss correlates with your starting weight/BMI, age, and most certainly your gender. BUT what is most important is following a healthy diet, drink Water, and exercise.

I still have 40 some odd pounds to lose before I am at my ideal goal but I am healthier and happier than I have ever been. I hope to reach it by 2nd band bday.

Good luck with your journey!

I am a year out and I have lost about 50 pounds as well. It is slower than a lot of other people, but I am happy with it. I have to admit that I haven't exercised like I should have, but I have always lost weight slow, so I expected it. I think everyone is different and I try not to compare myself with anyone else. And as someone else said, it also depends on what your BMI was when you started. People with higher BMI's will lose faster than people with lower ones. My goal was to get below 200 pounds within a year and I am about 3 pounds from it, so I am happy.

I am 9.5 months out and hovering around 71-72 pounds lost. I am hoping to get 20 more off by bandiversary but we shall see. I had 4 months of being unfilled due to gallbladder issues and surgery, so I am happy with my progress.

I am three months out and have lost 44 pounds so far, but my loss has slowed a lot in the last month and a half. Like someone said about - don't compare yourself to others, because everyone is different!

I eat very well, and do a lot of exercise, but lose weight very slowly. It is very frustrating sometimes, but any loss is a good loss!

WOW guys - some seriously motivating stories here. I am 2 months post-op, and feel most my weightloss was pre-surgery & during recovery thereafter. We will see. Am down 34 lbs so far, but very little of that has been subsequent to about a month after the op. We will see. I believe I still have to find my GreenZone .. and then hopefully.

My BMI has come down from 44.5 to 39.5, so that is good, but am really looking forward to dropping the next 52 lbs so I can Celebrate OneDerLand with so many other bandsters..

Keep smiling

k

Wow! We are almost exact. I sarted at 258 and am now 203. Everyone is exactly right saying you shouldn't compare yourself to others. I work with 2 other people who got the band and have lost much more than me, but they were much heavier than me to begin with, so everyone is correct about the BMI. I am developing a new attitude. I am trying to focus more on how I feel, the way my clothes fit and just being happy with the progress I have made. I was putting way to much stock in the number on the scale. This web site has helped me look at things differently. Thank you for your response.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
