This is whats called BANDSTER HELL!!! it's when you can eat almost anything you want and almost as much as you want because you have no restriction. Remember the band alone soesn't always give restriction. it needs to be filled. It might take anywhere from 1-5 fills depending how much your doc puts in each fill before you get restriction. Personally i didn't hit my sweet spot until fill # 5. now i have great restrcition and am loosing weight. Stick in there!

I know how you feel. I have a 14 cc band and only have 6 cc's in there....still can eat too much and get hungry if I keep it to 1/2 cup etc. Hang in there; that's what I'm doing!

I hear you sista.. i just got a fill this past Thursday, i got 2.5 ccs, but he told me that if in two weeks it wasnt working to come in again. Why dont you try and call your Dr and see if he can "filler up" for you somemore. Good luck.

It is normal with a first fill. My first didn't hardly do doodly squat for me . . . but the second was a doozy and put me at my sweet spot for many, many months. They typically start you off slow to let you adjust.

Also keep in mind, sometimes people get a slight delay in reaction to a fill and restriction can kick in a little more a few days later.

If you can go in a little quicker for the next fill, that might help, although many doctors require anywhere between 2-8 weeks between fills. It never hurts to call and ask to see if you can get in a little quicker.

If you just got your fill 3 hours ago, I am guessing you havent eaten? I dont know what your docs orders are, but I am supposed to be on liquids for 48 hours after and then move to mushies.

Maybe you docs orders are different. Give it a week or so of regular solid foods before you go back in for a fill. You wont be able to tell if you have restriction while on liquids or mushies. I had 4ccs my first fill...no restriction. 1.5ccs my second fill (I called and got in two weeks after my first), and I felt a little something but not much, so i called again and got in 1 week later and he gave me .5ccs and I have restriction . That was almost 5 weeks ago and I had to call and move this weeks fill back 2 weeks bc i am still pretty restricted.

Hope that helps. You will get there. Hang on through Bandster hell.

I'm starving and just had fill number five 3 hours ago! I'm starving because I've had no real food today. broth is not doing it for me. You will not know about restriction until you eat real food...liquids pass thru the pouch. I know I already had some restriction, so I'm sure I'll be quite restricted when I finally can eat mushies tomorrow....

Hang in there. You may or not feel any restriction -- everyone is very different.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
