banded for 1 year now

Recommended Posts

 My name is Julie, I'm 37. I got my lap band 2-5-08. My starting weight was 258. Now I weigh 205.My surgeon is Dr Michael Lara at Del Sol Bariatric Center in El Paso Texas. I am thrilled I did it. I have to admit the results aren't as dramatic as I had hoped, but it has helped me quit a bit. I guess I was thinking in the back of my mind when they were lecturing about the diet and exercise I thought to myself " I won't need to try that hard !" And even though I'm not really deprived, I do have to work harder than I expected. But as I said I am happy I had the surgery and would absolutly recomend it to anyone struggling with a weight problem.

Congrats on the weight loss!!!!!

I'm considering LapBand.

I may be hearing this wrong (because I'm reading it, and not actually hearing you say it). But, it sounds like ... you feel a bit hurt that you did all the work, and ate properly, and worked hard all year ... and the LapBand is getting the credit for your weight loss??? Is that how you're feeliing?

Or is someone laying that on you? Because it's totally not true ... YOU DID ALL THE WORK and YOU deserve the applause!!! <3 Congrats!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
