What is "sliming?"

Recommended Posts

I have read this term on here and I am just wondering what it means. That way I will know when I do it! Thanks.

Okay, we'll I'm not an expert on "sliming" as I've only experienced it twice. It definitly happened for me when I didn't stop eating the moment I felt discomfort. Usually, when you do stop at the first sign, you wait a few moments and then can continue eating. But sliming happens when you have an obstruction in your ashophogus and you can feel pain. I believe the "slime" is really saliva that just doesn't have anywhere to go. When I tried to "gag" up the obstruction, all that came out was slime. Eventually, within an hour or so, the problem resolved itself. Maybe others have different experiences.

Well my sliming experience is when something gets "stuck" or i just don't chew up my food enough and i produce this frothy slimy lquid that eventually comes up. No food just the slime. I had never produced such a substance before the surgery. Just try and remember to chew chew chew that food!

I've had it happen a couple of times, at least what I think to be sliming. When it happened to me, it was just an overflow of saliva that pretty much gushes out of your mouth. I have stood over the commode and just let it flow, it's bizarre. I've never had anything that was slimy or anything, just tons of spit.

Ohhhhh you'll know what it is when it happens. Sliming generally happens (to me anyway) when I didn't chew something enough or when something is not agreeing and wants to come back up (aka vomiting). You produce a lot of saliva that comes up through your mouth and sometimes even your nose. Also, you can produce a lot of excess mucus (aka slime) that you just spit out, I find that the heavy mucus happens when vomiting is going to also.

If I have eaten to fast, didn't chew well enough, have something stuck or have eaten to much, my mouth will begin to Water a lot. YOu naturally produce more mucus to ease the offending food down. You swallow it without really knowing how much. After a while it backs up. I just lean over the toilet and a big wad of slime and mucus just kind of slides out. It's rarely mixed with food. It's not vomit. I'm a year and a half out and have only "vomited" twice. BIG difference. If it feels like your mouth is watering, stop eating. It's a signal that you're doing something your band doesn't like. Trust me. Follow the signals. If you continue you'll PB. That's where the food in your pouch comes up. There's no stomach acid in your pouch so it's not partially digested yet. It's not sour or horrible like vomit. Vomit comes from the lower stomach and is partially digested already. The acid is sour and it's disgusting. It's sometimes uncomfortable to actually vomit because the partially digested food is violently shoved through your tiny little stoma and then the pouch. It can be painful. If you're newly banded, avoid vomiting at all cost. If you get the flu, call your doctor right away so he can give you something to stop it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
