sandi1011 0 Posted May 4, 2009 does anyone ever eat a piece of pizza or a small serving of Pasta, when they are able to eat regular food.< /p> thanks
crystal525 26 Posted May 4, 2009 Whenever I tell myself I can't have something, that's a sign that I'm going to crave it until I cave... pizza is not so easy for me and I can only eat one piece, so it's rare that I eat it, but I do love it and will have a piece once in a while. Pasta I eat whenever I serve it for my family. Goes down easy for me and I just limit my serving (which I have to do anyway!!!). And----If I wanted to do a diet for a lifetime, I wouldn't have had the band. So--if I want something I eat it, not all the time, but in moderation. Good luck! Mechbandster 0 Posted May 4, 2009 I've eaten some Pasta with turkey meatballs and sauce, but I don't eat very much of it. Less than a oz. I have tried pizza once and it was no problems, but I stay away from it if I can. Not eating pizza has not been as bad of a problem as I thought it would be before I was banded. Though during pre and post op, the pizza commercials were driving be crazy!!
Ale78 0 Posted May 4, 2009 Ditto! I only have 4cc so far so I don't know if it's going to change but I had both pizza and Pasta last week...mostly because I was on vacation. I limited myself to a very small portion of Pasta and gave the rest to my husband so I wouldn't nibble. Pizza...same thing. One slice and that's it. But really the cool thing about the band is if you eat it slow, all you want is a small portion. I still wouldn't recomend it being a steady part of your intake but ocasionally it should be fine and long a you eat very slowly and watch your portions as both pizza and pasta may expand once inside...yuck AND ouch! WorkingMom 0 Posted May 4, 2009 I have had pizza a few times. I only go for the very thin and crispy crust and find that I can barely eat one slice, but I do enjoy it and marvel that I am not looking to eat 3 or more slices! Pasta, well, not so good for me. I can do the tiny elbow macaroni, but not much else.

JonathanLA 0 Posted May 4, 2009 I tried pizza one time about a year ago and that was enough for me to know I won't be eating it again.
inri09 0 Posted May 4, 2009 had a piece for lunch and it was good... previously could have eaten a whole pie. I also find the thin crust style easier, thick crusts are too chewy.
ParrotheadCathy 0 Posted May 4, 2009 Back in March, when I had 3.6cc in my band, I went on a cruise. One of the appetisers I ordered one night had a little (I mean less than a tablespoon) as part of the appetiser. I took one bite, got stuck, and had to leave the table until it moved on. No more Pasta for me. My granddaughter (20 years old) lives with me and she loves extra thin crust pizza and I have eaten a couple of slices over the past couple of months with no problem but I have serious doubts about regular crust, which is softer, because I have a lot of trouble with soft bread.< /p>
moonchild713 0 Posted May 4, 2009 Thin and crispy is the way to go... I have got the multi gain pizza's from pappa johns and pizza hutt... but the crust is still on the thick side. When we do pizza not to often may be once or twice month. I get pizza hutt thin supream. We get veggies & a little meat. It does not bother my son at all, but I have to really chew!!!!!! KayleighsMommy 16 Posted May 4, 2009 I have eaten pizza a couple times since banding. If you are going to eat it...go with the thin crust . I can also eat Pasta, though I limit myself due to the carbs in it. I just have to have extra sauce on it.
twirl 0 Posted May 4, 2009 I eat the thin crust with small amounts of meat and lots of veggies
gamyj 0 Posted May 4, 2009 same here, at this point I can eat anything without a problem, I just limit my portions. I keep in mind that this is a lifestyle change not a diet. good luck all! amy
MissBS 3 Posted May 4, 2009 Nope... no pizza for me. My friend who works at the surgery center where I had my procedure done did tell me to go ahead and eat the toppings - but not the crust. I know that Pizza Crust, thin or thick, would give me problems. I also have had trouble with white flour Pasta, rice, and all breads. I can eat whole wheat pasta sometimes, but do try to limit it. I found the Whole Foods brand to be much better than regular grocery store whole wheat pasta. Once you get stuck/PB on something, it really takes the craving/love for it away. Am I glad that I can say "no thank you" to crust, bread, pasta, and rice now? Oh yes!! It was one of the things I was hoping for when I got my band. I still eat well, there are just some foods that I know I cannot eat anymore. Becky
