Livingthe Dream 0 Posted July 16, 2009 FYI, those are things I wish I knew but still no doubt would have had the surgery. I love the fact that I can sit in my sports car and not be crammed in like tuna, love the fact that my chest is not sitting on my stomach. Love the fact that I can run with little to no stress on my joints since I went from 290 to 200 in 6 months. Love it.
BDS_Geologist 0 Posted July 17, 2009 Well reading this thread makes you think twice, but it still feels like the right thing to do in my mind. I suppose we should all hope for the best. Thinking twice, three, or a hundred times is worthwhile. It's a life-long decision. It's not the right decision for everyone. You've got to be committed and stay committed. It's not the easy way, by any stretch of the imagination! Bryan

Indeed.. but the easy way in just about anything is often the way that produces the least results.

jonsjourney 0 Posted August 7, 2009 I know there's similar threads elsewhere, but I was curious about the male perspective. For me: I didn't realize the social impact of not being able to drink beer. Somehow grabbing a mixed drink or tea doesn't quite work the same when everyone else is downing suds. My nutritionist told me the you can have beer if you pour it in a large glass and put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes to let most of the fizz go out. I haven't tried it yet since my surgery last month but I am sure sooner or later I will give it a whirl.
