Cannot get back on track and afraid to go back to doctor Bertha

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Well I am down about 42 lbs! Feeling really happy about that but at last visit in July Dr Bertha suggested I go to nutritionist and go back to him in a month to evaluate my loss.

Well now it is September - I have not gone to the nutritionist yet and am stuck at 42 lbs.

I keep going up a couple of lbs and then losing it. I joined Curves and never go (maybe once a week) I am not eaing so great and feel I need a fill (only had one).

I am afraid to go back to Dr. Bertha!!

HELP

Go back to Dr. Bertha. If you are anyhting like me that is what it will take to get back on track.

You are doing great, and can get back on the loosing side, just don't put it off.

Best wishes.

Jack your awsome! I tend to get same way as connorsmom in general - the doctor is an authority figure and if I am not doing what I should then he will be angry. I have come to realize that he is my partner in health and although he may be disappointed in my lack of corrective action he should always be the one to gently help get me back on track when needed.

Connorsmom, go see doctor bertha and just say "I need a little help getting back on track" (It is never usually as bad as we fear it is going to be)

Good luck,

I say go face the doctor, get it behind you, it might just be the thing that will get you back on board. Just remember you are only human, and we all make mistakes. 42 pounds is nothing to sneeze at, you have lost a lot of weight. Hang in there! :D

COME TO THE SUPPORT GROUP MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 28th!!! I know that's more than three weeks away, but if you do nothing else between now and then you will have taken a big step forward if you make a commitment to yourself to be there. The nutritionist will be there and you can make an informal connection with her even if you haven't gotten around to making that appointment. And you'll get lots of support from bandsters who have been there and come back with the T-shirt!! Wednesday the 28th at 7:00 p.m. See you there?

Everyone seems to forget to that its a HUGE achievement to have lost 42lb and not regained it all! It seems to me that that's the key - and the main thing that the band changes for all of us chronic dieters. We all know we can lose weight to one degree or another, what we cant do is keep it off. Your band is working!

Its probably just time for a little adjustment.

I also think that frustrating as slow loss and plateaus are when you're trying to lose weight, it is simply not normal for the human body to drop weight on schedule, same amount week in week out without stopping for a bit of a breather now and then.

Your doctor will have seen it all before, you're not a child, you're an adult on a very difficult journey and you have no reason to feel ashamed or afraid!

Connorsmom,

Being in the medical profession myself (I'm a nurse) I can tell you that your doctor doesn't care about your weight loss as much as you think he does. When he goes home at night has a life of his own...and his first thought is not you. Even if he is a little judgemental at the time of your visit.....remembr it's his job to be that way! Who cares what he thinks anyway......Go to him because doing so will benefit YOU in the long run.

Jack, you are so great at expressing just the right sentiments when needed and you always put smiles on everyones face. Thanks

Connorsmom,

Beating yourself up is part of the old behavior that we are all working on. Like others have pointed out to you, 42lbs is no small feat. How would you feel if you had gained 42lbs instead? Suicidal? Be kinder to yourself and be greatful for the things you can do a little easier now without that 42lb burden you were dragging around? Doctor's feel that yelling or being stern is the only way to make us listen. I know mine makes me feel like a child and I'm at least 20 years older than he is. Once I remind myself of that, I just giggle at myself and know that he better say something to get me moving in the right direction, that's what he's being paid for.

Good luck,

Cindy

(here comes the dark cloud)

If the appointment to see the Doctor in 1 month was only a suggestion, hold off on seeing him.

If you are really ready to get things back on track, make an appointment with the nutritionist, see her and follow her advice. Get back to Curves just a couple of days a week, and watch what you are eating. After 2 weeks you will be able to walk into his office guilt-free.

I would submit that being "affraid" of the doctor has nothing to do with anything. If you need to be yelled at, I'm sure all your friends here would be happy to line up and take turns. (I'm picturing a scene from the movie "AIRPLANE")

I don't know Dr. Bertha, but from everything I have read he is an excellent doctor, highly respected and very busy. Frankly, for you to walk into his office and say "Hi, I haven't followed any of your instructions, now help me", is just an out & out insult to him.

If you aren't ready that's ok too. But really, don't waste his time. It's not fair.

I say go for it. I am having this dilema myself... got filled too tight... went back and not I am too loose. I am gonig to go back whether are happy about it or not.

In the end this is our life and we have to do what will make us happy and successful in the long run.

I look at it this way... if we made the decision to go through it... the whole surgery and all... then it should be the easiest decision to stick to it!

Lets both go back to the DR... and SUCCEED!!! Keep me updated... and I will do the same.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
