So, I have lost about 50 lbs since December 15 when I had my surgery. I saw my Dad right after the surgery since it was the holidays. He's never really been one to say "I love you," show any type of emotion or give compliments.

This weekend I saw him for the first time since December and he literally started crying. He couldn't believe how great I'm looking. I don't see it because I look in the mirror every day but for someone who hasn't seen me in 4 months to have that type of reaction, I can't wait to see what other people do when they see me.

I almost cried because my Dad is so happy that I did this and it means so much to have his support.

Has anyone had reactions that they couldn't believe? I'm seeing my best friend in a few weeks who I haven't seen in almost 2 years so I'm excited to see her reaction too.

Congrats on your weight loss! That is fantastic! I too am waiting for the day when I can see peoples reactions. I had surgery March 27. I am going back home to visit some family in June. I hope I can get the reaction that you got. I am down about 24 lbs. now. I would love to be able to get down another 15-20lbs. before then.

Congrats again!

You are doing great. Don't be surprised when people don't even recognize you. That is a very strange feeling to go up to someone you know (but maybe haven't seen for a while) and talk to them like you know them but they are not sure who you are. It's really kind of funny, especially when they figure it out.

 IVE actually have had this happen to me on numerous occasions... it really is hilarious to see their reactions when they finally realize who you are.. but i love it!!!!!!!

Get used to it girlie.. trust me youll have a lot ofe various reactions from people you haven't seen in a while and you have lost weight..

And another thing you probably know this already but it takes a while for your mind the catch up with your bodys weight loss....:)

for example... i started out wearing a size 26w and now i wear a size 7s.. but my mind still has me at a size16/18w:blink:

My high school reunion is just over a month away. There are people who haven't seen me since the last one, 5 years ago, and while I don't remember exactly what I weighed then, it was definitely more than now. And, this weekend, I found a picture that was taken at my 30th reunion (10 years ago) and I definitely look so much better than then. I'm hoping for a few really surprised reactions! Congrats on your succes so far!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
