has anyone else hit an overfill?

Recommended Posts

i have re-registered with the forum. you've helped me out before. banded 9/07 and love it. Started at 320 down to 216. i've had all the ugly effects. pb, sliming, hard time eating but i've always toughed it out. After a short time i loosen up and can eat lap-band normal. my doc is very conservitive on fills and that leaves me always wanting more in search of the sweet spot. i conned my way into another fill and this one the worst. its been 3 days of no food, night vomits and reflux. can i tough this out? This fill is way different than 3 before. at 2.5 of 12 c.c. an unfill will make my doc very leery about filling again.

Hey,

Same with me I was suffering for about a month. Went and got a total unfil, waited two weeks and he gave me it all back minus .5ccs. I am going back Monday for the .5 cuz boy can I see a difference. But it was worth the two weeks of no restriciton becauce no vomiting, and I feel so much better. It was a two week vacation, but I stuck to my guns and ate well, slurged once and ate pasta! But go get it taken out. Your body is obviously trying to tell you something...so listen?

OHH yes, I have had an overfill! My 3rd fill and it was 2 cc well I noticed a tightness when I left the doctor's office and the doc asked me, "are you OK, do you need me to take out any" and I said, "No, i'll be oK" well that was on a Friday and had a hard time getting even Water down. I could only take sips of Water and gatoaide, and Protein Shakes that weekend. I was miserable with gas and heartburn and couldn't get anything down without pain like a knot in my throat. I immediately called that Monday and got an unfill Tuesday of 1 cc. I feel great!!

If your doctor is a good one, and mine is, she didn't mind taking out. I asked her what if I get hungry again, she said just come back, no problem.... take care... lapband is wonderful.... i am now at my goal weight of 153 lbs... and loving it!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
