Business Trip during Liquid Diet

Recommended Posts

I have a business trip scheduled during the pre-op 2 week liquid diet phase. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this obstacle or has any suggestions about how to do this. I've found out I can request a fridge in my room, so I'm not worried about Breakfast. lunch is served at the conference site and dinner is generally at various restaurants with colleagues.

I cannot cancel this trip and do not want to postpone my surgery date. It's already taken so long to get through the ins approval process.

Thanks for any advice you might have!

I think you would probably be okay at the restaurants, just order Soups and items like that.

With the conference site, can you call ahead of time and see if they can accommodate you with Soups and liquids? If anyone in your party says anything, just let them know that you are on a special diet due to some upcoming medical procedures.

Ask your surgeon and/or nutritionist for some guidance. It depends on what your "liquid" diet is. They'll help you figure it all out...and they are your best and safest source for info.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
