Yes. Your body is still healing. Your Doc should have explained this to you. Although some begin losing right away, it is also very common for it to take a while. Just be patient and follow the post-surgery rules. A year from now, you won't even remember these first few weeks.

Oh, if only we started to lose immediately after surgery! You may even gain with the transition to mushy and then to solid foods. I gained and lost 4 pounds twice during the 4 weeks post op.

You are so soon after surgery, don't worry you will start to lose. they pumped you full of fluids by IV in the hospital, and your body thinks it's starving, due to lack of calories.

It will just take a little longer and your body will adjust. Congrats on your band, and keep up the good work!

I am so thankful for everyone's input on this site. I KNOW that it won't be easy but everyone is so helpful that I am sure I will make it through the process.

Thanks again for the reality checks!

From what I hear, until you get your first fill, anything you lose now is a bonus. It is important to heal at this time and that's priority.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
