Welcome May 2009 Bandsters

Well, I am new to the site and will be banded on May 6th. I also noticed that there are several that will be getting banded in the month of May to.. So, I thought it would be fun to have a thread for us May Bansters.

I think it would be fun to see how we all progress as we each reach our surgery date and our experiances after.

So I will start first..

I am counting down to my days, I have 4 days left. I am on the pre-diet and have lost 12 pounds. I am looking forward to having my band.

So when is your date? tell us all.

*Please post even if you are not a may 2009 bandster we would still love to hear from you and we post our experiances.

See you in Band land soon. :)

Right now just low fat, low calorie, I do my preop on Tuesday and at that time I will be given my next instructions. I am looking at a surgery date of either the 14th or 21st.

I found the may 2009 bandters group just after I posted this thread.. So sorry for duplication.

As for what I am doing on my pre-op diet. My doctor had me to a high protien low carb diet with only 900 to 1000 calories per day.

I do a juice Plus Complete soy protien shake in the morning and for lunch and then I have a small meat Protein and veggies for dinner. I have also been walking and doing Water aerobics every day.

I will see you all on the mayo banditos group and threads.

happy banding

Karianne

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
