4 month slump- need encouragement and a kick in the rump

Recommended Posts

Hey, I guess I am in the same boat. I was banded on 10/2/08 and have only lost about 40lbs., which I know is good, however, I have not lost any significant weight in the last five months. I am hovering between 204 & 210...I even joing WW to try and get a handle on my portions...still no real results...I am exercising regularly 3 to 5 five times a week...I am so frustrated I want to cry...I am feeling very hungry especially at night...my last fill was in April 18...no real improvement and/or progress...this is driving me crazy....I just want to be under 200lbs.....AHHHHHHHHHHH!...Sorry just venting...

I just got another fill yesterday, and told my doc the same thing - he sees progress with my weight, but asked me what I did when i was hungry at night...told me I should go to bed earlier or try to distract myself by getting on the treadmill or taking a walk (I live in a rural area, it's really dark at night and no sidewalks). I didn't really like that, but thankfully this fill so far (1 day only) feels more restrictive and I pray that it holds!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
