I was banded on January 27, 2009. I had one fill in March and a second fill this past Tuesday for a total of 6 1/2 cc's. I was not able to keep food down after the fill on Tuesday so I went in to have a slight unfill done.

When my doctor was accessing the port, he almost had to climb up onto the exam table with me and stand on the needle/tubing to get it to go in. He said I am developing scar tissue around my port area.

Has anyone else had this issue? What is the future impact of this situation? Will it affect my ability to have fills done?

Any information will be appreciated.

Hi, I also was told at my last appt. that I had scar tissure around my port. He said that it wasn't a problem it would just make it harder to accsess. My first fill was the end of Dec. The NP had to poke and prode and left me with a nasty bruise that lasted almost till my next appt. The next time I went in I asked to be filled standing up. I can feel my port real well when I am standing up, I thought that it would be supper easy to get to, I was wrong. It was still hard to find the opening, but I did not bruise at all. Good luck and hopefully we hit our sweet spots before the scar tissue gets worse.

This just happened ot me at my first fill, last week. My doctor always has patients stand up and lean back with the table behind you. Even with my port sticking our from that, he had to put a little shoulder behind that needle to get it in. It kind of popped and then went in (with quite a bit of pain.) I hope all of my fills won't be like this, but I DO tend to build up scar tissue. Good luck to you.

Hi, all!

I've only had two fills. At the 1st one the PA told me I had a lot of scar tissue. No surprise, because the incision for the port is the same place as my gallbladder removal. In saying that, he had no problem at all finding the port.

Before my 2nd fill I had some discomfort and thought it was a hernia. When I told him at my appt. for the 2nd fill he said the lump was my port (how embarrassing) and explained that when you stand up your port moves and is not at the same place as it is as when they fill it. (I judging by where I knew they stuck me for the first fill.) Both times they numbed me with lidocane before the fill. However, this time I had a whelp the size of a 50 cent piece and a nice bruise that I didn't have before. Still, I didn't feel any discomfort, scar tissue or not.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
