Getting nervous..BCBS of ILL

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I hope your all doing well. I am getting so nervous as I have one more of my 6month diet doctor visits left an then the paperwork will be submitted for approval. Here are some things I am nervous about.

1) I am healthy other than being obease I have taken all the test and they were all good.

2) this is the big one I have 10 yrs of documented obease weight (they only ask for ) so these are who gave me the info 1) my GP doctor and 2) from my cardioligist. There are heart issues in my family so I have the heart doc right at my fingertips just in case.

Now one thing all of the documentation is there except there is nothing from 2007 not one doctor visit for anything at least if I went to either one of them there is no weight documentation. My gosh could they deny over 1 flippin year not being there when they have 9 other yrs in a row that show the weight?

Does anyone have any insite on this matter, I just dont want to have gone through all the hoops with all the money I have to pay out for things my insurance did NOT cover and then be rejected. I dont do rejection well.

Thanks

Michele

I have Cigna insurance and my case is similar to yours. I have to have 5 years of medical records. I'm basically healthy except for being overweight. I have weigh in records from 04, 05, 06, 07, and 09. I don't have one for 08. Also in 07 my BMI was 38 or 39. I called my insurance and they said that it would be okay with out a 08 weight in, and with the lower BMI because I'm still showing a pattern of morbid obesity. So, call them and see if they can put your mind at rest, or at least give you some direction on what to do.

I have BCBS of MN. I did the 6 months of documented dieting along with all of the other tests and meetings. I also have no other health issues besides my weight and due to living outside of the US I was missing a couple years of documented weight. With all that said I was approved 36 hours after BCBS received all of my paperwork! BCBS gave me the option of doing this as either an inpatient or outpatient. I was banded 6 days ago as an outpatient and the recovery has been great so far. I hope your approval process is as quick and carefree as mine ended up being. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
