I can eat chips, Cookies, popcorn, nachos, Protein Bars without getting stuck

as soon as i try and eat healthy such as meat, veggie it gets stuck and i spend the next hour in the bathroom...

Im not going to lose wight eating junk food....but i cant spend my life puking either,,,i need help im not sure what to do...

Today here is a sample of what i had

b: Protein Bar

s: Piece of deli turkey & slice of cheese (stuck)

l: Sml nachos with Beans cheese and meat becuase i know it would go down without trouble

d: Tried chicken with rice (stuck) small bite chewed 20+ times

can someone help me or give advice??

You sound too tight. Call the surgeon's office and tell them what is going on and I am certain they will make an appointment for an unfill. The sooner you can get some taken out, the better chance you have that you won't have to have it ALL taken out.

I know being tight sounds like a good thing in theory, but it leads to the bad eating you are describing, because eating well hurts. It isn't your fault, but it IS fixable, but don't wait. Do it now. Good luck!

I am beating my head against the wall wondering what is going on with me. I was banded 12/07 and lost 37 lbs to date. I have not lost any weight in the last 12 months. I have had 8 fills to date, however I am wondering if some of them missed the mark. My dr. did say that my port was tilted, but he had no problem with finding it during the last fill. During the first couple of fills, I could feel a suction when the dr. removed the needle. Then I had about 5 fills when I did not feel the suction and then I could feel it during the last fill. Does anyone else have this sensation when the dr. is removing the needle? At any rate, something must be partially working as I am seldom hungry. Sometimes I get a restriction after a couple of bites of food, and other times I probably eat way too much. Any suggestions? I am wondering if I should go in for another fill or talk to my Dr. to see if my band has slipped or something. Thanks

Talk to your doctor. The best suggestion I can give you is to log your food intake to see what and how much you are eating each day. Also, you may want to weigh/measure your food for the next week. It seems that as time passes, my portions seem to get a little distorted.:) I begin to think a cup is really 3/4 c. If you log your food you can look to see if most of what you are consuming is slider foods or not. This information will be helpful when you talk to your doctor.

I am pretty sure you band hasn't slipped or you would be experiencing a lot of problems, but really call your doctor's office. He/she is who can best help you get back on track.

Mom,

I agree with the other poster, you sound a tad too tight. I have had this happen to me.

I would ask for a small unfill.

mom of 4 - are you going on liquids for 24-48 hours after getting stuck? At my doctor's office they make you do that if your food comes back up b/c of the swelling. I thought my doc's office was full of crap when they told me to do that but after having a few problems and then implementing their recommendation I have found that my 'getting stuck' happens far less (maybe because things are allowed to completely unswell etc.)

FYI - chips, popcorn are known as slider foods in some publications for lapbanders. So with what you posted you are probably swollen and overfilled..which sucks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
