:) I was banded on Wednesday (4/28/09) A DREAM THAT HAS CAME TRUE:thumbup: but I have a question for you that have experience with the lap band. Why am I not feeling full? I am eating like I am suppose to but am still hungry. Now I will say I feel fuller a whole lot sooner, but shouldn't I feel full really fast? I think I am to go in to the doctors office in about two weeks for a fill, does the fill make a difference when filling fuller sooner? I mean I thought with just the surgery I would see a hugh difference. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't felt much restriction since being banded on 4/21. I haven't chowed down yet, but I feel like I could.

I think I may not know what "full" truly feels like, but I definitely have not gotten a just-had-a-chinese-food-buffet full feeling.

Restriction will come with fills. Now is time to heal.

Ok, it is very normal to not be getting full yet. Unless your surgeon prefilled your band, you won't have much restriction. Luckily, it sounds like your surgeon is giving you a fill REALLY quickly. You may notice a difference then. Some people need a few fills before they can tell a difference. You will get there, just eat as healthy as you can until you do. Once you feel restriction, it won't feel like a diet anymore.

Oh, and once restriction kicks in, you don't want to get to that too full/overstuffed feeling, that is when you have eaten too much and may possibly have to "bring it back up". Eat slowly and really listen to your stomach.

I understand your big disappointment about not feeling full after the surgery. It is called "bander's hell". I was banded on Feb. 10 and I must wait 90 days for a fill. I can really eat. I have tried everything and have had no problems. What is hard is that I know it will change dramatically when I finally get a fill. I think 90 days is too long to wait for a fill. My mindset is totally off. I try to think that my band date is really the date I get my first fill.

I have the new Realize C band and as it is a bigger band (bigger than the reg. Realize band) and I have no restriction. It also depends on the thickness of your stomach and how much restriction some people have.

Hang in there. Let's hope the fill will help.

Some people do have good restriction right from surgery, but many don't and most don't by 3 or 4 weeks after. This is a time for healing, not weight loss. You must follow your Dr's instructions carefully so that you heal properly and do not cause any band problems. Fill up on Protein Shakes when allowed and eat as much as you are allowed of the foods allowed as they are added to your diet. Do not worry about losing weight now. You might even gain a few pounds before your first fill. You will lose lots of weight after you have healed and started getting fills so that you have restriction. Most Dr's do not do the first fill until you are 6 weeks post op. Congratulations to you and good luck in your weight loss!!
