I know this sounds stupid....but

Everybody's different. I have experienced only 1 that I would consider a full blown PB. But I don't get as much saliva as everyone else describes. I've had the painful ate to fast and have to give it a few minutes, but that's not so bad. But let me share my first experience shortly before going to full solids after banding - this was a bigg no no, and I was stupid to think it'd be ok. My sister throws a BBQ - and no one in my family knows I've been banded besides my mother, step-dad, and my boyfriend. I figured she'd be having hot dogs and hamburgers - now grant it I felt very healed and hadn't had one lick of problems with any other foods - soooooo I show up and they have nothing but smoked BBQ'd ribs - not the baby back that are lean - but the fatty ones. I put one on my plate and figured I could pick around it - I purposely had not eaten that morning so I could get at least a little salad or something down and not be so obvious. That rib looked & smelled soo good, and it really was soooo tender I thought'd be ok and it was before I got some fat - I tore off a tiny piece and ate it - went down just fine - another 2 bites - ok - 4th bite had a little fat on it and BAM! I immeditaely tried to be discreet and handed that rib over to my boyfriend and he just looked at me and asked what? don't like it? I quickly shook my head and he knew something was wrong - I told him I'd be right back and I went into the bathroom and was doing lamaze breathing for a good 10 minutes! I had tears in my eyes and breathing was the only thing that got me through it - I just remembered what my friends had said - it only has 2 options - to go up or go down - you just have to wait it out and see what it's going to do. I breathed and breathed and breathed - put my arms up over my head and paced in the bathroom. I believe that is what everyone calls a PB and that was my only bad experience thus far. Like I said - I've felt really uncomfortable when I had a too tight fill and ended up throwing up for the first time - but it still never compared to that rib bite I took and I will never forget that!

Relax, it WILL come. I had my first one the week of solid foods...the culprit was scrambled eggs no less...you'll certainly know it when you get it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
