Headhunter 6 Posted April 30, 2009 I've had several of them in the last year, and they are not bad at all. Very quick, actually. I wouldn't be worried at all. HH
mommyx2 0 Posted May 1, 2009 oh no... i dont even want to deal with gagging... YUCK!!!
Nanook 2 Posted May 1, 2009 I'm pretty sure mine was done while I was put under and my daughter had to take me and bring me back home. We have a facility that only does endoscopies and it's really nice and convenient. I'm not skittish about stuff like that though.
ParrotheadCathy 0 Posted May 1, 2009 Here's what to expect. You will go to the hospital/surgical center/gastroenterology lab. They will give you a mild sedative (translation: you're not going to remember much). They will spray the back of your throat to supress any gag reflex, put a guiding mouthpiece between your teeth and slide the scope down. It's about as big around as a pencil and you'll be all happy from the sedation so it's a piece of cake!
paulawally 0 Posted May 1, 2009 Cathy explains it very well. Just remember to be calm and breathe thru your nose, that way you will avoid any gagging. Happy trails !!!
