Staples, Stitches or Glue?

Recommended Posts

I was glued....and the incisions look great 3 weeks post-op. The residue left on my skin around the incisions is taking a while to go away, but I'm going home today and trying the nail polish remover - thanks for posting that!!!

I didn't think to ask before hand either. Sorry about your problems Kage and Moonbeam. Hope everything heals good with them...I am two weeks out and my glue is only off on the small incision. I can't bring myself to go ahead and pull the others off. I think they will fall off on their on. I'm not a picker so I'll leave them alone....

I feel so ripped off, these staples were not necessary it sounds like, so i wonder why the surgeons used them.

P.S yay for those of you who don't have any problems and are happy with the results!

I had staples with my surgery. I believe I asked before hand though and I remember hearing info about dissolvable stitches. In addition to my doctor, there is another lap-band doctor in the same office. After realizing I was stapled, I learned that my doctor only uses staples, and the other doctor uses the steri-strips? Don't know why such a difference. You would think they would collaborate better and use one method of doing things. It sounded like they both had different post-op diets too. Who knows....

As a person who cross-stiches, I wonder if I would take that skill into surgery with me if I were a doctor.

Just a thought......

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
