Share your pre-surgery story/tips?

I am a journalist writing an number of articles on how to best prepare yourself, mentally and emotionally, for LAP-BAND surgery.

I'd love to speak with people who want to share their experiences with:

-- how to ask your family/friends for the support you need

-- how to manage your last-minute emotions/jitters before the surgery

-- how you've responded when people don't understand your decision and have told you you don't "need" the surgery

-- how to use a food journal to help insure your success

-- how to manage the holidays and take emphasis off of food

I'd also love to hear any stories about how life has changed for you since the surgery. What are some of the happiest surprises? Have you accomplished any goals/dreams? After the investment of the surgery, have you saved money in other areas of your life?
