Any Bunnies working out??

Recommended Posts

If you are working out, what are you doing? If you hope to soon, what is your plan?

I'm commited to walking 1 mile each way from work/train. I bought my monthly train pass and will not drive, except for Doc appt. day.

I have to drag my bootie out of bed at 4:45am so I can make it to the gym before work. I hope to swim, bike & eliptical. All depends on how my knee reacts.

Hi ,

I was banded on 4/23/2009 on 4/27/2009 i walked around my complex for 30mins. Yesterday i did the treandmill for about 50mins at 2.8-2.5 speed. I had been working out 5x a week before the band and could do the treandmill at 4.2 but now i can even make it to 3.0. I had some major back pain after the treandmill so i will do walking arround the complex. The walking helped me pass the gass the whole night last night and i am lossing! 12lbs since surgery 60 prior!

I was only banded Monday, so so far I haven't done too much. My street goes in a circle and one lap is just under 3/4 of a mile. I walked in once lsat night and twice so far today. Before surgery I worked out at the gym with a trainer 2x/week plus tried to do cardio at least 1 additional time. I hope to get back to that soon. They told me after my 2 week check up I could probably get back to the gym for cardio but I couldn't start lifting for 4-6 weeks.

I thnk other then walking caution is the word when working out. I had to mow my front yard last Friday 2 weeks post op and my port incision tore a little then I couldn't stand the knee high grass any longer so I mowed the backyard and it broke open again. I saw the doc today and he said it was ok and put tape on it.

So I wouldn't start lifting weights or doing zoomba for a while till the incisions are well healed.

Ouch JT! I'm glad you're ok. I asked my Doc on Tuesday what I could do. He said stay out of the Water, bike, eliptical and not to try for my personal best. Do enough to get my heart rate up but not too much that I'm feeling completely worn out and to listen to my body.

the ONLY thing my surgeon will let me do is walk until my one month Bandiversary - so my hubby and I are walking 2.5 miles - we have it down to 40 minutes, so I feel like that's pretty good for 2 1/2 wks post-op. I'm ready to do yardwork and work out, but am taking it slowly so nothing bad happens.

Pottergirl- Walking is a wonderful thing! Good for you on racking up those miles. But unfortunately my right knee doesn't tolerate it well. A mile at slow pace is ok, more than that and I'm a mess. The bike & elipitical are much easier tolerated for me.

Hi all! I'm not working out (other than walking), but I did go back to work on Tuesday. It was a tough day, but I made it. I had planned to go back on Monday, but with everyone in my house being sick with either a vomit bug or a cold, I just wasn't ready. :)

Yesterday was my first day back on the hospital unit teaching my students. Had to walk a ton, but I did okay. Made it to Church choir last night until my stomach starting feeling sore from using my abdominal muscles while singing. I already feel almost 100% but waiting for the go ahead from the doctor before I venture into the gym. Especially with all the flu and sickness going around. Getting sick is the LAST thing I want to do right now!

I see the doctor a week from today (next Thursday). Steri strips are still holding tight. I'm dying to see the scar underneath them though. Started mushies today. Heavenly!!!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

My doctor wants 60 minutes of walking daily...fast slow or inbetween doesnt matter he wants to create the 60 minute habit. I had my follow up appt today and see him again in a month so from now til then I will be walking at least 60 minutes a day. I will be doing wiifit too but he said no resistance training or lifting.

I went back to the gym at 2.5 weeks after surgery. I took it quite easy for that first week, and I have only been doing 30mins of cardio (bike, cross trainer, and tredmill) even this week, but I have upped the intensity so I am getting my HR up to 150+ and getting a good work out. Feels fine - just like it used to. The first week back though I had NIL energry. Just listen to your body - don't do any ab work - and be kind to yourself, exercise is good but not if it compromises the journey by injuries!!

I've been mostly wandering around my yard and Walmart with the dh and kiddies. I feel so weak and have been taking a nap in the afternoon. :) I'm 5 days post op, anyone else feel puny for this long? I'm pain-free which I found weird, never have had pain since surgery. I figure the weakness is low calories and healing.

Anyone else?

I haven't been doing much either, except walking. My S.O. is getting tired of it. I just feel so listless. I'm taking a nap every day too. Of course, this week has been really tough. I started back to work on Tuesday. Tues, Weds and Thurs were butt kickers and took a lot of energy. I also noticed that I just didn't eat or drink hardly at all.

The other night I started feeling nauseated all the time and now I've got a headache. I'm thinking I'm just not getting enough Protein and Water. It's just so hard to eat. I feel full immediately. There isn't even any fill in my band yet! Surely, this is just swelling and will go down soon. I can't imagine always feeling nauseated when I eat, that will be a total bummer! Plus, I really thought that if I wasn't eating very much, I would be at least dropping weight like crazy. No such luck...still in the 200 category. I guess I'm just having a couple of bad days.....

P.S. I'm not taking any pain meds, haven't since earlier this week. Incisions are tender, but nothing bad. Gas pain is all gone too. Just no energy...

I have been walking 30 mins a day during the week over my lunch hour. I walk at a comfortable pace, as I have a walking partner who does not walk fast.

After my husband recovers from his knee surgery, we have plans to turn out family room into a work out / play room. So that will be nice to have all our equipment in one room!

I have not felt a lack of energy, but I have been taking chewable Vitamins or liquid Vitamins. Also I have been drinking vita rain from costco. It has vitamins in it but 0 calories.

My first week after banding I did not do much coz I was in the hospital. When I came home I took it easy because I am still tired from what I had. Today I started walking again, not fast but at least I am trying. I have already walked twice today and will do it again at lunch time.

Keep up the good work guys!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
