 I am approved for my lapband. I am so excited. I have been waiting for so long. I am going in June for my surgery. I wish I could give a date but I still am not sure. I have done everthing my doctor requested. My name is Kimberly and I am from Nebraska, I stopped drinking pop almost a month ago. I have also changed my eatting habits. Extra gum is my new bestfriend..lol. Cant wait to get to know more people here.

Hi Kimberly, welcome to lapbandtalk! Congrats on getting approved for the band!! There's a lot of stuff to read here and a lot of cool people to chat up (unfortunately, I'm not one of them. The "cool kids" won't let me sit at their lunch table, lol). So get busy snooping around. Good luck!

Hi Kimberly,

Congratulations on getting your approval! I just had my surgery last Wednesday the 22nd and have already lost 15 pounds. I didn't quit drinking soda until the day before (no pre-op diet required) so you are already in a better position. I live in Phoenix and am always looking for buddies to chat with. My blog is at Bella5425’s Blog Keep us posted and good luck!

Katie

Thank you for the welcome. I find it such a great motivation to read and look at all of the before and after pictures. I am going to take my before pictures the day before my surgery. I had a real hard time not drinking my pop and it was even diet Dp. I am just on tea, water, skim milk. I am really reading everthing on this site, trying to soak it all in. I wanted to ask what goes on at a support group. I was thinking of going to one. But I already know so much about this lapband system and the way it works. Anyone have any Ideas? I am just waiting on my date. I know its going to be soon. Some of your pictures make me want to cry:crying:..Im so happy for you all.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
